Minor update! This time I've mostly been working on the prow armour (obviously, the only kind of armour that matters, because the stern never faces the enemy). The difficult/interesting bits are mostly done - now it's just a case of plating the hull, building an interior and detailing the whole shebang. And maybe adding some more guns.

The ship's starting to take shape nicely. The killer piranha of space. :D

I've also detailed the engines some more. Now it looks like a proppa conglomeration of scratch-built and looted thrusters, I think.

    As usual, C&C appreciated!

Just a tiny wee update to show I'm still making progress. :p

I'm really happy with the direction this project is progressing in. It's starting to look like a gargantuan heap of scrap metal and a few artillery regiments' worth of ordinance held together by duct tape, bubblegum and WAAAGH!-energy - just the way it should be.

These pictures also show my failed attempt at making a landa to fill the kroozer's hangar bay. I've concentrated on these large-ish projects for so long I can't build small craft anymore.

"Flamin' Mork, boss... it's- it's- zog me. It's bootiful!"

I've finished the Kroozer's exterior! Although not quite as large as the Tuonetar, it's definitely the most detailed exterior I've created to date. I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves, now.

Quite the menace, ain't it? :D

And the important glyphs with their meanings explained. Starting off with the ship's name, Da Urdteef - Lots-of-teeth in weedy 'umie parlance.

Urd dakka - Lots of firepower

Og boss Skar-Naz - Property of boss Skar-Naz

    Skraga nar - Veteran crew

As you can see, there are lot of other glyphs about, but as they're just single words they're mostly there for decoration.

I'm still thinking about what I'll do with the interior. Some of the stuff I've already done/planned:

    - Feasting hall/throne room
    - Kaptin's quarters
    - krew quarters
    - squig pens
    - the drops
    - tellyporta room
    - mekshop
    - dok's clinic
    - fighting pit
    - hangar
    - cargo hold
    - brewery/distillery (I've no idea how to make this, but it feels essential, really.)

Suggestions concerning the interior are very much welcome, as I doubt I can use up all the available room with just the above list.

EDIT: before anyone points it out, yes, putting the hangar door where a fish would have its rectum was totally intended. I wanted my ship to poop out planetary invasion forces.

    I'm not dead, everyone!

I've done some minor interior work and weapon refits on the Kroozer, but nothing worth reporting. I reserved too much interior space on the damn thing, and now I'm suffering the consequences.

Instead, I'm here because I've started yet another large project to eat away at my free time - a vertical (!) cruiser inspired by the Minmatar Naglfar. It's my first attempt at making a ship that's not horizontal, but the construction so far has been surprisingly painless.

Naturally, it's going to be bulked out a lot in most areas. Colour-wise it'll be mostly dark grey with some minor brown details and maybe red markings here and there. The larger hangar will be a unoccupied guest hangar, whilst the smaller one will house the cruiser's shuttles.

Been working some more on the vertical cruiser. I've added offensive turrets, a few flak turrets and some minor detailing.

Some detailing on the main thruster complement.

Quad-barrelled laser cannon. It struggles with armour, but a bunch of them will eat up lightly armoured ships or help deplete the armour HP of heavier ones nicely. There's 17 in total.

Comments and criticism appreciated, as always.

Progress on the vertical cruiser (which I've now christened the Amberclad-class cruiser, inspired by Halo's In Amber Clad, which is the coolest spaceship name ever) is slow but steady. Mostly been working on detailing.

The ship itself. No major changes over the last update, I'm afraid.

I ditched the idea of a guest hangar and went for USDs instead, so both of the ship's hangars hold one Dutiful-class shuttle. In addition to seats they have a little cargo space.

The the USDs. They extend far enough from the body that two of these cruisers can easily dock with one another.

Last but not least, escape pods! I've yet to finish the logic on the topmost ones, which is why they lack shootout rails.

So, despite the harrowing memories of assembling the USDs still lingering in my traumatized mind, I somehow overcame my fear of even rudimentary logic once again. The result... heat radiator fans.

I filled the radiators with engine blocks - I reasoned that the radiators are used to cool the engines, so destroying them will hamper the ship's mobility, as the engines cannot be used at full capacity lest they overheat. Or something. Their effect is miniscule anyway, the important thing is that they look awesome!

    *sniff*

They do grow up so fast...

The exterior on the Amberclad is 99% done. the only thing left is to cover up one small deck that I've left open to give easy access to the innards, and of course, finishing up the interior. Anyway, piccies:

I'm very happy with the way this ship has turned out, so I'm going to build an entire fleet in the same style. Once I've finished this one the next order of business will be making a light cruiser version, with some weaponry and bits of accompanying hull removed and more thrusters and another jumpdrive added.

Having seen this ship go through development start to finish, it looks really great and it's cool to see how other people build - yours is new to me and I think it's really cool! Nice ship!

Thanks! I think it's wonderful how even a small community such as ours has so many different build styles. I'm a very intuitive - even haphazard - kind of a builder, I don't plan ahead much, but it has a tendency to work out nonetheless.

Amazing vessel. Probably the best large vertical ship I've ever seen (I've seen like two others above frigate-size, or heck even corvette-size, but this is even better, and those were done by skilled builders (And one of them was EVE)).
Can't wait to see some more!

I've been playing way too much BFGA lately...

Anyway, I've been busy with RL for quite some time, but I think I'll be slowly getting back to Starmade. In the above pic you can see the beginnings of a Vaalxian siege battleship (or a battlecruiser, depending on its final mass). I've still yet to finish the Amberclad's interior, though, but it seems that'll have to wait...:p
