    Words Of Advice
From The Starmade Community, For The Starmade Community
Greetings spaceladies and stellarmen! The basic premise behind this thread is for the veterans amongst us to share groundbreaking advice to the fresh meat heading round this corner of the universe as well as to fill the gaps in one another's areas of expertise. This can range from building tips, combat guidelines to industrial applications.

For convenience sake please follow the following guidelines:
    1. Word of Advice should be no longer than 1 line, any longer and it knocks the "Woa!" right out of it
    2. You can (and are welcomed!) have multiple pieces of advice in one post, just use a new line for each one.
    3. If you make claims based on hard stats be sure to test it/prove it beforehand, and state the version it applies to in brackets.
    4. Don't post anything but "Woa!'s" here. Unless you have a clear objection to one and want to stop misinformation. Use the rating system to show what you think without posting.
    4. Have fun and be excellent

    Example:

Save time on big builds: set server.cfg to Mass Place Size > 10^3 . Advanced Build Mode Away ( v0.158 )
    Comprehensive Compilation of "Woa!'s"

    2. Always remember SM rule 1.1: Someone will always build a sufficiently large gun for EVERYTHING and ANYTHING ever, no matter how much you buff it. [Ithirahad]

For posting suggestions, always remember SM rule 1.1: Someone will always build a sufficiently large gun for EVERYTHING and ANYTHING ever, no matter how much you buff it.

If memory serves, you can't destroy the faction block on pirate stations. Just send missiles into the spot where there's chests.

Don't make mining ships, they're broken right now. (Shops only buy the new ores)

Don't try to write starmade advice while playing kerbal space program. (unless your using mechjeb to do something, its an autopilot.)
Those sounds more like a Past bug with Effects. The Pirate Faction Module is located at the Navigation Icon, and has 99 armour (Needs a weapon with 100+ damage to even break)
I wouldnt not recommend building salvage ships cause of an update o -o but include a Version number if you're gonna go version specific advice.

Remember to check for empty spaces and useless hull blocks under your ship's surface.

It's obvious but always aim at the core.

Salvage stations with build blocks whenever you can, and if your server's admins let you.

Always save your WIP ships in the catalog when you log off, you can never know when the universe goes corrupt.

If you have not built a decent small ship of your own and tested it as worthy, don't start building a giant one.

Don't ignore the value of good armour, both for defending your ships and building weapons to take on others.

(bit of a necro thread, but meh, good advice is always welcome really)

Save important blueprints to local when on a server. Wipes and rollback happen, protect your builds.

If not docked or docked to a station that doesn't have Homebase protection make sure the area around the ship or station in question is well defended. :)
