Simple; press s if in front of you and closing in. Turn around while going away from them if they're behind you. Laugh if they choose to sit in front of you.
The ring is not for tricking AI and lock-ons, unlike a certain ring shaped structure another faction built. It's mostly decorative, but it's also a very nice turret platform.

you do realize they were made for ambushes?
they were like "the campers of the armored division"
is that what you are planning too? camping and ambush? :D

but there they only have to watch their front side and back
not their head and feets (heads was taken care of/doomed when plane comes)
the difference between back then and starmade:
we have no scouts, no planes to see the enemy, and no radar (they had that right?)
we don't know when the enemy is there, where it is, if it is planning to attack etc.
while in WWII, tank=enemy=attack and scouts all over the place made it possible for commanders and stuff to make a map similar to this:
and at those points the fixed turret tanks kick in to ambush, as it is a defensive/camping tank.
in starmade we only know this: they have those ships, they live there, they are/aren't online.
we don't know when and where.
That actually really fucked the Allies up.
Everyone expected the German tank forces to run into Allied fixed guns and tank destroyer forces, but the Germans never actually drove where they were expected to.
Really, in Starmade, travel time is short enough and faction territory is empty enough that it's easy to just pop up and arrive at someone's base uninvited in the space of ten minutes tops. We could fairly easily use detection systems to get an idea of where enemies are, but in the game's current state it's not worth bothering, since player ships can totally change locations in seconds.

jup xD
movement's are very fast (keep that :D) 1 thing, it is huntable.
we once were hunting some cloaked guy using radar and teamspeak it was fun and we almost had him, almost....
but still then it's like, sit in a radar all day, scan, check scan, scan, check scan.
think that that wont we a good solution to set up an ambush :D

We were hunting a cloaked ship with a pact of destroyers and a battlecrusier, it highlighted the need for small ships with fast jump drives for interdiction.
