we have been getting quite a lot of forum badges lately, and now that we have the council and stuff I think it's time for a new one which has been long in coming. We are becoming a growing community and lately we have been specializing. The counselors are community oriented members and there are some which have gotten the badge of master builders. I think they will agree a more specific badge for the particularly gifted individuals in the designing of Logic Circuits is a good idea.

    Logic JEDI
A Logic JEDI is someone so gifted in the method of building logic that they become a FORCE of power which can make them almost mythical in nature.

I think this need to totally become a real term associated to starmade as minecraft has their "Redstone Wizards" so I must now say we need our "Logic Jedi's" and may the force be with you all!

Or, we could not take titles directly from other IPs.
Well if we can't use the term "Jedi" without being swarmed by copyright lawyers, what does that say about the 50-odd voxel replicas of Star Wars spacecraft floating around the blueprint section?

It won't be called Jedi, but with logic constantly expanding it makes sense to add a badge for people gifted in it so you know who would be someone good to talk to about it if you get stuck with logic.

Peh, you're only supporting the idea cause you want one. ADMIT IT! ;)

It's cool though, I want one too.

Lol, I want them so I'm not always the one being asked about logic questions. Share the load. But also there's some really crazy logic guys out there like Sven_The_Slayer , jath , AndyP , fusemc74 , SkylordLuke who i think deserve some recognition

Like there's guys building CPUs and crazy sorting mechanical systems and all kinds of things

hahaha, I wish I could help you with that. I consider myself to be decent with logic, not as good as you or the users you enumerated though. My favorite is automation, so drone launch mechanisms (with racks), fully automated gravity tube network, etc...

I can't wait to start messing with rails, it's definitely gonna be fun. The wireless logic is a godsend, definitely better than shooting a core into an area trigger or timing a shot to destroy a not-gate on a freshly undocked entity (very derpy, I don't recommend it, even if it works).

well OK I am reasonable the Jedi part can be easily compromised I'm not petty. I just thought maybe something like it would fit as some may not know but Jedi is not a Star Wars term. Jedi is actually a Turkish term for wise man, so if you want to be technical the Turks could sue Lucas for stealing their word.

then how about "Logic Master"? its not culturally specific, it is broad and generalized, and if anything its legally neutral to copyrighting. it implies a sort of hierarchy and is not a franchise educing term we could even have more than one for different levels, first a learner, then an apprentice, and finally the master.

I also consider myself in the learner category.

Because those are made by players using the game as a tool, and not actually used by the devs as an in-game feature, original content, or website feature.

I should probably add, I am 100% for the addition of this badge, but it needs a real name.

Computers are WAY beyond me... I consider myself a practical logic guy. I am only interested in neat compact contraptions you can actually use on ships and stations that serve a purpose, even if it is a novel one.

We could name it "Certified Base/Ship Automation Engineer" lol

However, yeah true, there are a lot of people out there with logic potential,
and also enough of them wont come into attention as they may deserve.

So, we should possibly get it more like a "self-tagging" signature,
like having a preference banner or those crazy "program banners" with 50 program checkboxes and you get a personal lineup of your "supported programs" as a banner.
Maybe this with some SM skills, like
    "Exterior design"
    "Interior design"
    "Weapons"
    "Logic"
    "Base Builder"
    "Ship Builder"
    "Survival Player"
    "Battlemode"
"RPG hater" / "RPG novice" / "RPG average" / "RPG pro" - same icon with different color code or so.

Possibly have all icons with colors, so you have a slider to adjust your skill and get a color-coded banner with static icon lineup ^^

hm, this could actually work as profile extension to show up between name and featured badge :P

    This sounds absolutely perfect.

That way, you wouldn't have to cheapen the hard-to-get badges by flooding the area under your avatar with a load of less-than-important ones.

Dont worry, my aim was not to devalue badges,
but to prefer some "self classification" system, that does not rely on this amount of skills to be rated by someone else, and all those players that love to play single player would never get someone to recognize their skills without them sharing them in community content or so.

So, my idea was more some "signature banner" :)
and made a small joke about putting this directly above the featured badge ^^

well if that becomes a thing and it needs to be in the signature...
I guess some people might just pop it in their signature just because they can, unless it is somehow locked like the badges are.

I have to be honest, I don't consider CPU's particularly hard, just large and tedious. CPU design is taught at 2nd and 3rd year level at my local university, but the most advanced piece of hardware in them is probably the cache, or maybe branch predictor, really.

Elevators, however, are used at 4th and 5th year in no less than 4 different courses, at said university. They demonstrate temporal logic, safety systems, PID control, and HCI.

I was a bit taken aback when a potential supervisor paid more attention to your Elevator video, which just happened to auto-play after I'd demonstrated my CPU :P

On topic, I'd love a Logic Master badge.. but I think self-awarded badges/tokens are not a good idea, because that detracts from their meaningfulness.

And PS., I'm about to go through your practical logic series, Sven - I have some ideas I'd like to implement myself, but don't want to double-up on what's already been done =)

Well.. Learner & Apprentice would be the same category I think.
If there is to be a three tiered structure for badge acquisition, may I
    Suggest this..

    Logic Apprentice
    Logic Engineer
    Logic Master
