What is it?
It's a medium sized thruster/engine for a ship, that lights up when you're at speed.
There is both a ship and template version supplied.
I thought that people might appreciate (RP or otherwise) the aesthetic of it in their engine rooms, and also since the ship version is dockable it means that engines could be 'ejected' from the ship if they're damaged; be it to dump the engine, or even replace it! Stations with spare engine parts could look awesome too!
There are some blue charged circuit wedges half way along the body which would also make some fantastic (and semi-realistic) clamping points to 'hold' the engine in place. The dockers are on the sides where a 'data' connection could attach, the template version currently has the dockers, I've been meaning to replace them with something else.
Note: there are no cameras with the dockers, you'll just have to rely on skill and magnetic docking.
Stats
Length: 69m
Width: 17m
Height: 17m
Mass: 675.1; Blocks: 6,178
Power Storage: 50,000 (ship version only)
Power Regen: 10,239.1 e/sec
Thrust: 2,747.3; PowerCons/sec: 75,666.7; Blocks: 2270
Shields: None
Note: Max speed and Ratio to mass will depend on the ship you place it on (don't forget to set your ship to use thrusters from docked entities!)
Configuration
There are 9 different colours that can be turned on
The engine can be accessed via the blast door in the back, the colour configuration panels are inside this room. Multiple colours can be selected!
The engine has a two-stage visualisation.
The first stage, intended to be a 'pre-ignition' burn, activates at 0.99% of maximum speed; this was unfortunately the lowest I could get the percentage (without filling the thing with activation modules) since unfortunately there is currently no way of detecting only 0% speed, it is always 0+%.
The second stage activates at 5.66% of maximum speed and will remain on while at speed.
I have plans in the future to add a 3rd stage when/if the sensors can detect overdrive activation.
Multiple colours can be selected for each stage, giving even more control over the appearance.
What comes in the ZIP?
The ZIP contains the blueprint (.sment) file of the thruster as a ship, as well as the template (.smtpl) file.
A note on using the template:
• I haven't yet tested it, but the template may not be able to be pasted on some servers given it's large size 17x17x69
• Display modules don't behave with templates
