EDIT: Not accurate? ahh..a common mistake by anyone who thinks about this in space. You think materials dont decay in space? You do know that long exposure to solar/interstellar radiation can cause the same effects on metal as humidity. it would take a loong time,but we ARE talking about a very old alien shipyard. Juts like the voyager probes we sent in real life,they could in theory reach the nearest star in 40k years,but by that time they would be like garbage because of the radiation.
