    HMS.Lagg3-AtraUnam 2016-01-05

My entry for the NGF competition, it get its namesake from the equally ugly and mean looking Russian fighter.

It features an exceedingly odd mix of systems that make it unusual to pilot but highly effective. (Important notes: the button on the bottom of the nose must be pressed in order to start the mini shield reactor; remember to turn on inherit thrust from docks.)

    Defense
For defense it mounts a rather paltry seeming 1000 shield capacity with 100% passive ion effect. However all of its 99 shield regen is supplied by an indepedant reactor meaning it will never suffer shield outages and the 60% ion damage reduction will continur to be applied even after the shields are seemingly down.

Making up the bulk of its actual defense is a 2.5/1 mass ratio backed up by 100% passive overdrive effect giving it the maximum possible speed a vessel can attain.

    Offense
The main caveat of this ships weapon systems is that they are AI controlled, meaning the pilot merely has to point his/her ship at the intended target. This allows it to make full use of its weapon systems at extreme ranges where manual firing would be ineffective. It mounts:
    • 4 cannon/beams doing 400 damage each every 4 seconds. These make up its primary long range armament.
    • 2 cannon/cannon/ions doing 300 shield dps each.
    • 2 cannon/pierce weapons each doing 200 damage against armor hp and poking at systems behind the armor itself.

For being a spirited attempt & just an all round solid fighter with unconventional but effective systems... 5 stars,

For being a giant fucking heretic and calling the LaGG3 ugly... 1 star,

Averaged out, +2 for my obvious personal bias, 5 stars
I love this damn thing, thank you very much :D
Ugly as sin (as it should be, it's a LaGG!), and scary as hell. Love it!
