The Newest addition to the Ephebian Defense Fleet, the EDF-300 "Vigilant" class destroyer is top of the line. Utilizing the latest in armor technology, this Naval Escort vessel is nearly impervious to small caliber cannon rounds, while maneuverable enough to avoid all but close-range rocket fire.
The Vigilant's armament consists of dual compact torpedo tubes, armed with MK3 guided torpedoes, a spinal mounted 30mm railgun, and two rapid fire anti-fighter rocket turrets.
This ship is equipped with the latest in command and control hardware, with full battlespace integration at all command levels. She is equipped with high-gain comm antennas, delivering crystal clear reception at up to 70 sectors, and a medium-frequency EM-band active sensor array for long distance target acquisition.
The torpedo mounts utilize the latest in auto-loading apparatus, permitting a higher than ever rate of fire with the MK3 torpedo, while retaining the same level of reliability demanded by the navy.
The Vigilant class is powered by a single 150 cubic meter Fusion bottle, with a deuterium start and taking standard hydrogen reaction mass. Traditional Radio-Piezo-electrics capture the harmful output, and harness up to 79.4% of the energy of the reaction for the ship!
Propulsion is provided through four active-control Neutrino-ion thrusters. These engines, build especially for the DD300 class, are some of the most powerful and efficient ever mounted in a navy ship, while leaving a smaller particle flux wake than other engines of this output.
