Another advanced anti-missile turret. Floating one this time though not pretty.
Looks very boring but you can redecorate the outside if you want. Mine are black so they are for players to see and aim at. It is designed to be setup floating outside the hull like a drone keeping station on a mothership, or a very high tech defence system using force fields to hold it in place. If you really want you could make a rotating section and have a circle of these rotating around your ship constantly. Just don't rotate them to fast or they might not be able to aim.
Full 360 degree rotation in both axis.
No exposed parts, all under hull.
All critical components protected by advanced armour. Front and sides.
Under mass limit for maximum rotation speed. Barely.
As per the previous hailstorm system the Bobby AI has a cannon/beam for extended range to allow more time to turn around. A rapid fire cannon/cannon as standard AMS and a 10shot cannon/missile system just to put more rounds downrange encase there is a very large number of missiles coming in from that direction. The multiple bobby AI's system from the hailstorm system, due to the lag in detecting and firing on missile in-front of it can be ineffective and has been removed. So only one Bobby AI on this turret.
Cons
Some assembly required.
Not completely self powered.
If you want it to look better you will have to redecorate.
Test fired 9 x missile/missile with 100% slave so total 90 missiles fired against stationary turret at a distance of 1000m with 2000m sector size and 75m/s server speed limit. None of the missiles get through against one turret.
Installation instructions: (Read all the way through first to avoid surprises)
1. Construct a line of blocks to where you want the turret to end up. Place a turret axis rotator on the end. Remove the construction line blocks leaving the turret rotator block in space. The turret is spherical 7 blocks in diameter and the centre point is going to be the docking block that will attach to the turret axis rotator.
2. Spawn in eyeball turret. Find the entry point near where the external camera is as per this picture.
3. Enter the core you can see from the entry point.
4. You may need to add a forward pointing camera so you can fly to where you want to dock the turret. There is an external camera already installed but its pointing down and not good for flying. This external camera is used to aim the docking beam through the single hole in the outer case.
5. Dock the turret. The bobby AI is already setup so just exit the turret, through the hole at the bottom.
6. Fill the hole in the outer hull with 2 basic black hull. Then remove the external blocks (camera, power reactor, thruster) plus a camera if you added one. Now the turret is setup.
