What do you do with trading stations?

I've encountered a trading station and "docked" with it. However, I apparently don't have the "admin privileges" necessary to open or remove the front door... in a singleplayer game. Is there any way I can interact with them, or are they just there as decoration?

There will be more you can do with them as the game goes forward to include things like actual trading and missions. At the moment they're being updated with the new docking and it will also address things like not being able to get passed the initial doors. I think some are even shops that you can buy from.

Yeah I was hoping the creators could get another pass with the new shields and scaffold and such.
