Weapons and modules only gainable through crafting.

    As the title suggests, I was hoping that the description on the main page of this site

    "

    • Customize: create customized weapons, harvesting elements, shields and docking stations for your ship. Combine elements to groups to make your modules even more powerful."

    meant that you could not only buy basic weapons and ship modules, but craft even stronger ones with manufacturing.

    It seems this isn't the case, as you can only craft weapons, shields, engines, and missiles that are already commonly seeded on markets.

    I would be very excited if an update for Star-made also included new upgraded item types that would need to be manufactured by the players. This would make mining resources an actually useful endeavor in the game.

    One thing that would be very important about this addition would be that there would also be an option in the config file for servers that either allowed or didn't allow higher tier items to be bought in blueprints. If disabled, it would spawn the ship with their tier 1 counterparts, or maybe no modules at all, at the descretion of the game's developer.



    And that there's my suggestion.

    There are some specific items that can only be made by crafting them, such as the plex recycler.

    But would be fun to have some more specialized stuff yea :)

    If I am not mistaken, schema mentioned there to be custom recipes for items in the future on the coopy interview

    yes but if you only craft weapons and modules, where do you get all the money to buy all factory stuff and things recuired to them? as far as i know, what you start with is not strong enough to take on pirate ships/bases so where do you get the money to basically craft the core items in making a ship?

    I think you are missing my point, I mean it would be cool if there were higher level items like antimatter cannon t2 and t3, and stronger shields, faster engines, more powerful shields, guns that have explosive properties or spread, just something to make mining useful.

    what this comment meant, is that you can take the block, and put them together in custom groups to make unique weapons and systems, not that you could create custom block types.

    Yes, I understand that now. I just got my hopes up with my misunderstanding that you would also be able to make special items that couldn\'t be bought in the store. Without these kinds of items, there\'s really very little reason to mine or manufacture, which is a shame because mining in this game is the best mining experience I\'ve seen in any game, using salvagers on roids and such.

    Just a little refinement on the idea, it would be neat if part of the recipe for upgraded modules was a basic module. So you would manufacture upgrades, then put an upgrade unit and a basic module into the factory machine of choice and it would output the upgraded version of that module.
