why not instead of making warpgates only go a transport a certain distance why not make it so the distance you can make the gate go is only limited by the power you can give it and when the gate is 'open' the power drains until it goes below the minimum to make a connection to wherever it makes a connection to and you have to wait for it to charge up and turn it on again

How do you turn the gate on or off? Currently you just fly through, which means gates are unmanned.

through a activation gate or maybe ships could be equiped with a controller that could turn on the nearest warp gate

Perhaps the gate's power requirement could be a function of distance and the mass it is transporting. It would be easy to make long distance gates for small ships, but harder for large ships.

Make the gate send you towards your Navigation Way-point.

Make the distance you travel a product of your own mass and power averaged with the mass & power of the gate.

thats a good idea I had that thought but I thought that would make it to complicated

FTL travel will be looked at again in the future but again I have to remind people that there will be another method of long distance travel in the form of "Hyper Drives". So in short there will be 3 tiers of FTL: Jump=Short range, Warp Gate=Medium range, and Hyper Drives=Long range.

Hyper drives were reconfirmed by bench but he never gave a more detailed answer on it
