    Welcome to Vecordean Fleetworks!

While some may call you a warlord, a rogue admiral, a mercenary king, or a piratical reprobate, we here at the VFW prefer to think of you as "Sir" and/or "Valued Customer." We understand the needs of the dynamic, go-and-gettem world of the brutal military dictator and are proud to offer a fine line of armed vessels for you to bend to your inhuman will. Once they've been purchased, of course! No refunds.

Ah, but you wonder why you should choose the VFW over competing shipyards. Allow us to showcase what makes us different, what makes us the right unregulated, non-union death manufactory for YOU!

Our design philosophy is simple, functional and built around our patented Fantail Drive (TM). The VFW Fantail Drive (TM) is a marvel of engineering. It siphons vital life-giving energies from the very cosmos itself and repurposes it using science somehow! Part enormous generator, part FTL drive, and part shield booster, they pack a lot of power and utility into a compact, incredibly vulnerable package.

Since our ships' most vulnerable bits are at the back, we coat their front end in reinforced Yellowtanium alloy. This alloy, produced by an uregulated, unscrupulous manufactory on Ripoffia, Planet of Questionable Value, can probably stop at least, like, one good hit before caving like indentured Barzikkian servant under the cruel ministrations of his Blarkzian overseer. Haha! Good times.

It goes without saying that you should try to keep the front towards your enemy and try not to engage in dramatic wet-navy style broadside exchanges when piloting VFW-produced vessels. This is a bad idea and you will lose.

Please peruse our catalog and feel free ask our perpetually smiling, ever suffering worker drones any questions you may have.

    Vecordean Fleetworks Tremolo MkII Interceptor

    Available HERE.

The Tremolo the VFW's premier (and, honestly, only) interceptor! The Mk II has reasonable shields, excellent thrust and maneuverability, and guns that might possibly be dangerous if fired constantly at the same target for extended amounts of time! While still on the pricey side, its armor and shielding up the pilot survival rate by over %500 (from .2% to 1%).

    Vecordean Fleetworks Forte-class Gunship

    Revision 2 Now Available HERE.

The Forte gunship is a robust, all-purpose design. It's four turrets can engage multiple fighters, concentrate on larger single targets, or provde fire-support for ground-based assaults or the eradication of unarmed, inconvenient humanity. It also sports dual Smughawk tracking missiles to give it a heavier punch against both ground and space-borne targets. It's also crazy-fast. Just sayin'.

    Vecordean Fleetworks Bolero-Class Corvette

Available HERE. Cybertooth's original design available HERE.

Sometimes you need a proper capital ship, but can't afford one. The Bolero-class is the answer. It's perfect as a convoy escort or as a part of an ad-hoc fleet out to conquer an evil and/or good empire. It's also got a resonably roomie cargo bay for to help extend its ability to perform independent patrols or ferry small items too important to trust to a regular transport ship (like incriminating evidence of your own fiscal misdeeds). Buy a lot 'cause they are basically disposable, much like the crew inside.

    Vecordean Fleetworks Valkyrie-class Corvette

    Available HERE.

Essentially an overgrown fighter capable of extended patrols and fleet actions, the Valkyrie employs the Wingdrive variant of the VFW Fantail Drive (TM) reactionless impeller. It has heavier fixed-forward armament and two defensive turrets along with respectable shields.

Vecordean Fleetworks Devi-class Military Transport Vessel

Available HERE. Drs93's original design available HERE.

The Devi-class Military Transport Vessel was originally created by drs93 for the VFW Corvette Contest. We added a glowy stripe and upgraded the fantails, but the ship's nice, blocky, asymmetric look is all drs93's doing. This is a modular, easy-to-maintain transport vessel of roughly corvette dispacement capable of being configured for a variey of roles. Right now we only have the basic model, but we plan on producing some varients as time goes by. Only time will tell!

Fact: We've managed to squeeze an unprecident 1.3 million rare and endaged Fluffy Wuffums on this ship! We had to liquify them, of course, to maximize the volume, but our Culinary Resuscitation Artisans assure us that we can "probably separate them out somehow".

    Vecordean Fleetworks Lyre-class Combat Tug

Available HERE. Yhgi117's original design available HERE.

War. War never changes. And neither does breakfast, the most important meal of the day for the failure-ridding meat-beings that require it. You know what's also important? Bringing broken ships back from an engagement to be repaired, stripped, or broken down for parts. How do you accomplish this? With the Lyre-class tug, of course. This is a tough little ship designed to help bring damaged vessels back to safety and/or the market While not obvious, one can (and should) ratchet out the hidden tow cable and get to work*.

*Due to game engine limitations there's really no easy way to set up a dynamic tow chain, so you'll have to do the work yourself. Also, when nested docking becomes a thing, we'll revisit this concept and expand upon it for maximum awesomeness.

    Vecordean Fleetworks Dirge-class Frigate

MK I - Revision 3 Now Available HERE.

Our Dirge-class system patrol frigates are the smallest of our capital ship offerings. Their Fantail Drive (TM) section offers blazing fast accelleration and excellent strafing action coupled with serviceable maneuverability. Primary anti-ship armament consists of two torpedo tubes backed up by a nose-mounted heavy cannont and two medium dual-cannon turrets (helpfully labeled 1 and 2, respectively). Four short-range, rapid-fire point defense turrets serve to ward off fighters, rogue asteroids, and peaceful protesters. It comes with a single Omnidrone to assist with post-battle repairs and the scavenging of valuable virgin space rainforest.

    Vecordean Fleetworks Dissonance-class Fleet Frigate

    Available HERE.

The Dissonance was originally a redesign of the Dirge and, honestly, it ended up being such a different ship that we just gave it a new name. This ship is a proper warship, faster, more heavily armed, and far more durable than the venerable Dirge. It has room for eight crew members, or twelve if you stuff a few in the maintenance lockers.

    Vecordean Fleetworks Hymn-class Light Destroyer

    Available HERE.

The Hymn class is a discount capital ship. It has fixed heavy guns instead of naval-grade turrets, and six defensive turrets of varying sizes. It also comes with an 8-tube vertially-oriented torpedo launcher. Like all of our vessels, the inside is relatively nicely appointed.

NOTE: The current version of this ship is in the pictured red/black/lava color scheme rather than the standard VFW yellow. The inside is black and grey rather than our typical white.

    Vecordean Fleetworks Nocturne-class Heavy Destroyer

Aerzaal and his Solaris Combine Shipwerks have offered to update this ship and have done an excellent job. Their improved refit is available HERE.

The Nocturne-class is a potent capital ship capable of engaging heavy warships. It comes with dual Fantail Drive (tm) reactionless impellors for Crazy Good (tm) energy generation. Redundant power systems mean it can meanuever at top speed and fire its 14 turrets and two hull-mounted weapons systems without the energy reserves budging, even after taking considerable damage. The inside is roomy and comes with all sorts of nice touches, including toilets, a first in space ship design. Revision 1 adds more shields and fixes the whole "turret shield regen" problem, as well as adding the missing Omnidrones.

    Vecordean Fleetworks Ensemble-class Light Carrier

The Ensemble Mk I is available HERE. The current revision comes courtesy of Sven_The_Slayer the fine shipwrights over at the United Colonial Corps Shipyards.

NOTE: The current VFW Tremelos (and Sonnets) are not compatible with UCS Maintenance Refit of the Ensemble. Though superficially similar, the UCS has refitted their compliment of Tremelos to more docking friendly.

The Ensemble-class Carrier is a rugged, dependable escort craft. Not rated for fleet actions, it's designed to help defend convoys from fighter, corvette, and even frigate attack. It's built on the Nocturne hull with some serious modifications and bosts even heavier shields. It's an impressive ship! The fighters cost extra, though. No refunds.

The UCS Maintenance Refit swaps out the broken three-shooters on the upper flight deck with new Quartets, but manages to keep the rest of the three-shooters intact. It also has some needed, though minor cosmetic fixes, and replaces the old Odies with the armored Incredibarrel variants. Good work! Be sure to check them out.

Here\'s an update on the Octet-class Escort Carrier. Our team of cracked engineers assure me that the foreward hulls are the most time-intensive part of VFW ship designs as they consist of complex slopes and many, many cut corners.

Now that the main hangars are set up, we intend to extend the upper armor cowling, install a con tower, a lower utility dock for Omnidrones, and weld on dual Fantail Drives (TM). The yellowtanium drive frame at the end of the ship is too small and too close to the forward hull, so it will be removed in favor of a cruiser-grade drive.

We\'re developing long-range anti-fighter missiles for use with this vessel, but will install them once brutal combat trials on Puppynia, the Adorable Fluffy Wuffums Planet, are complete.

We had considered adding blast doors to the individually numbered fighter bays, but decided it will help keep those cocky, hotshot flyboys on their toes if they need to dodge incoming fire on their way to their incredibly vulnerable craft. Don\'t worry, though! The launch bays are heavily shielded and armored so when one of its fighters inevitably explodes before launching, the crew inside will remain relatively \"safe\" from \"harm.\"

The Minuet-class Cruiser, our first Fleet (or Heavy Capital) ship will be built on a similar frame, but will be less fat and chunky. Think \"sleek\" like a shark, not \"boxy and bloated\" like a whale that has been eating bricks made of delicious muffins.

Uh-oh! Looks like one of our indentured engineering serfs has leaked an image of one of our super-duper-secret Fantail drive sections being constructed. Apparently giving them tumblr in lieu of a paycheck wasn\'t the wiset of moves on our part. Oh well! You win some, you murder some. Since it\'s out there, we might as well post it and then babble on about how clever a design it is.

It\'s pretty simple. It just looks like this:

That\'s it. A few nested generator assemblies that take advantage of the length of the drive to produce a good amount of power, internal sheets of shield generators, and a thin sheet of engine blocks on either side. The front of the drive can contain power batteries, more nested generators, more shields, or any combination of the three, really, depending on the needs of the vessel. Cover the front end with a circular plate of armor and you\'ve got a pretty amazing drive section.

This is a drive for a cruiser-class vessel and will be 31 meters high, 77 meters long, and just 8 meters across once you account for our gaudy, highly ornamental and only vaguely defined shipyard logo. We call that one \"Wingy Thing\" and it stand for nobility and purpose or something. Who cares?

Seriously, though, if a missile blows out the center of that armored circle, you\'re boned. That\'s why we put armor on it.

Losing a vessel is always a sad day, unless it was some crap vessel containing an impertinant commander you didn\'t particularly care for.

We here at Vecordean Fleetworks would like to extend our most sincere condolences* and say \"We feel your pain**.\"

*Condolences do not contain any actual sincerity

**The aggregate of sociopathic suit-beings who comprise the Vecordean Fleetworks corporate body are incapable of feeling or caring about the emotional states of others. This statement is for entertainment purposes only and is in no way a binding agreement.

Thank you for your understanding and sympathy. Always good people over there at VFW.

On a side note, I\'m not mistaken, I might have lost it to a Dirge raid... nevermind.

    Thankfully*, no one was injured.

*We missed a huge business opportunity there. We have more than a few inept commanders who were hired because the other ones mistakenly thought they could fire the main gun without it imploding...

    Update:

The first of two drive sections have been bolted onto the Octet Chasis.

It exerts 8259.3 units of thrust, provides 799926 units of additional power storage capacity, generates 121838.1 units of power/second and sustains 141221 units worth of shield power, recharging just a hair over 4k a second.

That\'s just one! There\'s always room for additional generators and shield emitters in the roomy hull, of course. Well, provided you don\'t want crew quarters or replacements parts for your fighters.

    Either way, we\'re changing extra!

Greetings potential VFW customer! We\'re pleased to announce that our Octet-class escort carrier nears completion and will be available within an indeterminate amount of time!

Here\'s an image of her a bit below and away from our ridiculously overpriced (and undervalued) Dirge-class System Patrol Frigate! Keen eyes will note the yellow-ringed paltforms behind the control tower. This will support two of our patented Smughawk anti-fighter missile pods once the underpaid sweatshop programmers we\'ve contracted to build our sophisticated AI figure out how to keep the missiles from targeting the ship that launched them!

Another shot that provides a close-up of the ship\'s name and gives potential customers a good look into the hanger bays. We\'ll be installing blast doors on the insides so pilots can get in and out but our blast-door provider is still on back-order after a tragic and hilarious worker mass suicide.

If it looks a bit empty underneath the con tower that\'s because the last thing that will be installed is the large ventral utility dock for visiting supply shuttles and a housing for a few Omnidrones.

Lastly, we\'ve got a shot showing the wonderful logo we stole from a third-grade special education class\' weekly \"Draw a Duck\" contest. This is the Octet 05. It\'s not the 5th Octet we\'ve built, but we desperately needed to convince some violent investors that we were almost done with the ones they had already paid for. It\'s a sound delaying tactic and is a shining example of the keen intellects at work at the VFW.

We hope you\'ve enjoyed our presentation and will consider Vecordean Fleetworks for all your brutal dictatorial and mindlessly ambitious military needs!

I as a \"valued customer\" have some unmet needs. I need a vessel that specializes in bombing peaceful planets and asteroids in an effort to inspire fear and respect into the helpless citizens of my newly conquered peoples. I do not want the bombs to be too strong as I would prefer to not damage the infrastructure of my newly conquered territories rather a carpet bombing vessel would be preferred. I also want it to be small enough to smuggle it into other belligerents like myself on my disguised freight ships Im thinking heavy fighter size. I can pay with reprocessed awesomeite for use as narcotics or credits.

We here at the VFW believe in the honest, hard-working man\'s right to obliterate all who stand before him. To that end, we\'ve got two solutions to this exact problem on the drawing board as we speak.

The first is the Forte-class gunship. Roughly corvette-sized (by VFW reckoning at least), it is planned to have a set of fixed-mount dumb-fire rocket pods for precision strikes against both fixed targets and large, slow-moving capital ships along with four triple-barrel turrets similar to the ones seen on the Octet-class carrier.

For those with a more siege-oriented mentatility, we do have a planned varient of our cruiser hull (tentatively named the Chorus-class) that sacrifices the base design\'s trio of heavy turrets for two wedge-shaped multi-missile launch systems. While not specfically designed to gently sprinkle a fine layer of doom upon a potential planetary acquisition, altering the damage/range/explosion radius parameters of it\'s Smughawk missiles should allow one to carpet-bomb planetary targets from long range.

But that is far in the future! Our current production schedule has us finishing the Octet and then prototyping the Forte-class Gunships and Minuet-class cruisers. Once the Minuet is completed, prototyping of the Chorus should be fairly rapid as they both are built on the same basic hull. Afterwards, we\'ll be concentrating on our Destroyer and Battleship-class hulls.

Stay tuned! And, as we here at the VFW like to say \"LOL WUT A REFUND???\"

Valued Customer Kossen (and all other sentient purchasing beings), I was keeping your request in mind as I sifted through the personal data of our employees when I discovered some old blue prints in our Fail Archive. The ship, dubbed the Sonnet, was intended to be a bomber, but lacked enough punch to deal with anything over Frigate size, even when employed en masse. However, they seem like they would be useful as dive-bombers hitting soft ground targets, such as orphanages and forrests containing the extremely endangered Fluffy Wuffum. I suppose one could fuse the six dumb-fire tubes into one big one on either side, but VFW\'s moved on to more robust anti-shipping solutions.

Still, as our gift to you, feel free to obtain a copy of the schematics here: http://star-made.org/node/8320

Oh, and it looks like this:

This looks to be just what I need. Not powerful enough to destroy infrastructure yet just enough to make the less fortunate peoples of space bow down to me in fear and awe! Vecordean Fleetworks has produced yet another highly vulnerable, yet somehow perfect design!

Ah! Dear patrons, customers, investors, and filthy, meaningless competitors! We\'ve finished up both the Octet Carrier and our new Forte Gunship!

You\'ve seen enough of the Octet, we think, so we\'ll talk a bit about our new Corvette/Gunship, the Vecordean Fleetworks Forte-class!

At just over 41 meters long and massing a scant 106 UMU\'s, the Forte crams a lot of firepower into a small, lightning quick frame. Four independently-tracking, triple-barrel turrets let it engage multiple fighters simultaneously while it\'s dual Heavy Smughawk tracking torpedo launchers give it some teeth against capital ships. It\'s even suitable as close-air support for your vast army of faceless, vat-cloned storm-troopers or genetically-enhanced facist super-soldiers.

Power is what this ship is all about. It\'s special Fantail Drive (TM) reactionless impeller means the Forte sports a thrust-to-mass rating of 280. It\'s only real down side is that it\'s not intended for long, independent deployments. While there\'s room for it\'s two-man crew to stretch out and nap if needed, you may want to consider the purchase of one of our gigantic (and currently non-existant) Conductor-class fleet tenders!

Here\'s another shot for you to enjoy. You may even enjoy it in a way that will both shock and shame your parents.

Good thing you killed them, huh?

    Dear vecordian Fleetworks.

My name is captain silver destroyer of entire factions. As I have been destroying factions and terrorising millions of innocent people I feel I deserve a luxurious ship in my name. I hearing about your devious ships and vessels should like to sign a contract to build a ship that so many turrets tat it can destroy entire fleets yet luxurious enough to satisfy my evil needs such as a hot tub and a place to do my evil laugh as I watch millions be destroyed by my fleet. Can you vecordian Fleetworks fit my needs.

Wait, did you say Captian Silver Destroyer of Entire Factions?! I have hunted you for years after you destroyed my best friend\'s cousin\'s uncle\'s daughter\'s cousin\'s friend\'s friend\'s faction!

Just to tell you, a simple thanks. I\'ve been meaning to get rid of their faction however do to some familial ties and friendships which provide me with access to the lucratic awesomite narcotics industry I was not able to do it on my own. Thank you, and may your wicked doings be not as villanous as mine yet still a great enough atrocity to be spoken of in fear amongst the many space travellers.
