He's no jerk, just saying what in his opinion would make your ships look better and many people would agree with that. Trust me, it's worth it considering that you only have to build the ship once and then spawn in as many times as you like. Another mistake you are doing is that your ships are a little undetailed. Try putting some things llike radiators, windows, antnaes, give some order to the colors. It all may seem a little hard, but learning these techniques will be both usefull in the long run and will make the building process way more fun.

when you start building much larger ships you'll realize that wedges dont really make a difference at least they dont for me, on smaller ships they both add another block and smooth smaller ships out they way you can with larger ships but with only one block and not 20-30 blocks for the larger ships
