Your playing Starmade in sandbox mode, just you and the ai's, you can already purchase a NPC at the shop, don't you wish he can do more than Stay, Follow, Sit ( will call him Rover for now).
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to use Rover to do other things, like fly a ship on his own, he could be your wing commander, or you can have him escort a small fleet on recon missions, or go after a wave of pirates, then come back to base when the threat is gone. Assign a fleet of drones to stay with him. He can certainly help out in taking out that pesky Alpha Pirate Station.
Say you have mining bases all over the galaxy, A NPC with a charted route can deliver your precious cargo back to your base, land, off load and go back. OK, that might be too much, I don't know.
If Rover can do more than dog tricks, we can call him Capt. Rover.
