Unable to login to a server due to uplink

Hello there,
I am currently unable to login to Shattered Skies server. When i try, a pop up saying that this acc is protected apears. The problem is that I than go and uplink again, but nothing changes, i am unable to log in to my character.
I did change my SMD name recently, is that maybe the reason?

Your uplink is a link to the Starmade Registry afaik-
so if you change your name and login credentials there you may break your link to those characters protected by that uplink.
you will need to take that problem to a server admin to unprotect the characters shortly before you login with the new uplink then.
