Turrets (for planet base)

Is there a problem with turrets used planet side to defend a base? I was testing it by letting a wave attack it and they just sat there. It may have been I built them wrong but I wanted to see if it was even possible.

Also, where would be the best place to find blueprints for some turrets?

for a planet turret you have to access the planet using a build blocj ang then use the structure menu to activate AI on turret docking units

OR

Make sure the Bobby AI is accessible and go to each turret and activate it's AI.

Unless they are self powered, the base will also need to supply enough power for them to fire.
