For those who want them, i am starting this thread with the intention of collecting a list of tools for use to build the structures in game.

http://oranj.io/blog/VoxelSphereGenerator - Voxel Sphere Generator. Makes various 3D shapes for building with voxels and lays them out layer by layer, with options for hollow or solid structure. (Can be a bit hard to use for bigger shapes because it will compress the illustrations of layers)

http://donatstudios.com/PixelCircleGenerator - Pixel Circle Generator. Does what it says, makes 2D pixel circles and ovals, filled or hollow.

http://www.plotz.co.uk/plotz.php - Plotz. A useful tool with predetermined three dimensional shapes (circles, toroids, ellipsoids) and structures (snowman, tower, lighthouse, observatory) which lets you view layers within a three dimensional environment and switch between the 3d isometric view and a 2d single layer view. Also allows you to print out pictures.

http://zoxel.blogspot.de/ - Zoxel. An installed program which allows you to create shapes with cubes in a small 3D environment. Useful for planning design, allows coloration of blocks in the editor, and has customisable background color. Can export work as .obj files.
NOTICE: 32x32x32 (32³) is the maximum size, so it is only useful for smaller modeling.

https://code.google.com/p/sproxel/downloads/detail?name=sproxel-0.6-win32.zip&can=2&q= - Sproxel. Executable program. Similarly to Zoxel, allows you to model with cubes in a 3D environment. Cubes can be colored, and modelling can take place on as big a scale as your computer can handle. Can export work to various model formats (.obj, sproxel's .png and .csv formats for importing back into sproxel, JASC-PAL palette files, LEVEL UP! tile and pallete files, Paint3D .3mp files).

If anyone would like to submit more tools (and comments upon the submitted tool's faults, unique uses, and peculiarities) please comment and i will edit them into this top post.

Zoxel supports larger than 32x32x32 in recent versions, those just happen to be the default dimensions. In version 0.3.0 or later the grid bounding box will automatically expand as you edit (up to a theoretical 126x126x126). There is also a toolbar icon to set the bounding box dimensions manually, or automatically detect them from the current model.

It was originally meant for Minecraft but it can be used for any voxel based game (Or just pixel art if you don\'t like Paint). You can create circles, squares, lines and elipses on a grid, and edit their dimensions and coordinates from the panel on the left. You can change the line colours to either black, red, green or blue.

It\'s all browser based so there\'s no download needed.

I use these programs to create the domes at the front of my mushroom ships, as I like them to be so close to perfect that they\'re pretty, however, when I try to render the blueprints on some of the online sites listed here, they lock up, and the downloaded programs are not what I\'m looking for. Plus, once you have the blue print, it\'s a bitch to build. My battleship has a dome 165x115x29 at the front. Do you know how long that takes to build? ~6 man/hours. Which is a pain in the ass, as Battleships are directly in the center of scale of warship firepower throwweight, and all of my ship designs incoporate a domed front, and bigger ships will only take LONGER AND LONGER!!! So I\'m a disatified with all of these programs and plotters. I\'d like a program where you can go crazy, and it just renders it into blocks and exports a blueprint file which can be directly imported into starmade. Anyone up to the challenge?

SMEdit supports many types of hull generation. Spheres, cylinders, boxes, needles, cones and stuff like that. It\'s pretty easy to extend if you have other ideas for shapes.
