I read, one of the biggest reasons against Fightercraft is the fact, that every ship can reach the speed limit, no matter of size. No ship has an advantage because of higher speed.

So what about decreasing the afterburner-effect of overdrive modules with increasing ship mass?

Just a simple and easy to implement formula, which correlates overdrive (when NOT used as weapon effect) with ship mass.

Small fighter sized ships could easily reach the double max-speed with overdrive, while bigger ships cannot. The more mass, the less speed above the speed limit.

Just a simple idea, which would give smaller ships an advantage in terms of speed.

    I have some questions:
    1. Why do you think smaller ships need this advantage?
    2. The overdrive effect is already dependant on the ship's size[module-count/mass], why limit it to below 100% effectiveness if half the ship consist of overdrive modules?
IRL small vehicles do NOT have a speed advantage in space, everything can be accelerated to any speed, provided you have enough time and energy. They do have an acceleration advantage though, as less force is required to change their velocity. This is also already the case in Starmade.

I think the problem is that the range of speeds allowed for by Starmade's engine isn't sufficient for the existing advantages fighters have to show through. (Also, engines are a little too weak across the board.)
