This shipyard idea started out as three frigates, one for each faction, about 10 months ago but was soon expanded upon to battleships, and then in to three entire fleets! Every time I had an idea, I added it to the list. But sadly I’m mostly an ideas guy, that and I can’t build ships for crap :(. So I’m posting here wondering if someone would be interested in taking up the project. Like any other project, these ideas are nothing more than a starting point. “Nothing is true everything is permitted” – The Creed

    The Way - Open Shipyard

An open shipyard is a collection of ships that anyone can add to and allows the modification of existing ships, within the defined rules (if any) of the collection.

The Way shipyard is a collection of ships based on the lore of the Supreme Commander series with its three factions; UEF, Cybran, and Aeon Illuminate. Note: the Seraphim isn’t needed but welcomed. The goal of this shipyard is to make ships that can effectively be used for both role play, real combat, and/or as a base for personal customizations. Larger ships may have unused turret docking points to improve armaments on PvP servers and allow for farther customizations.

UEF: United Earth Federation is the conventional military faction, the most well rounded of the factions favoring heavy armor over movement speed and weaponry power. The UEF primarily prefers cannons for weapons systems, piercing, punch-through, and explosive effects. Ship style: Boxy, highly orthogonal, and are designed to be reminiscent of older naval and air units (think current navy ships and aircraft). Colors: Blue with yellow accents and gray trenches between armor plating’s. Naming theme: places, animals and things. Internal spaces are conventional, decent space for personal but no unused empty spaces. Ships are mid ranged like today’s ship scaling.

The Cybran Nation: The Cybrans are the rebel faction. The Cybrans define multirole ships that favor speed, maneuverability and stealth over armor and weaponry power. The Cybrans prefer the use of beam weaponry mainly for its greater accuracy and the use of ion, emp effects, and the defensive benefit of overcharge effect. Most of their larger ships have two jump drives while most of the smaller ships have radar jammers. Ship style: designs are complex, asymmetric, inorganic, deconstructive, and angular. Colors: Black with red accents, and sometime exposed components. Naming theme: sciences, elements, and medical terminology. Internal spaces are cramped and have exposed components, larger ships may have a Proto-Brain. Ships are long and narrow taking full advantage of game’s engine physics as the engines extends most of the length of the ship.

Aeon Illuminate: The Illuminate is the religious faction, made up of humans that follow The Way the philosophy of the Seraphim aliens. The Aeon Illuminate use speculated but powerful ships. Their weapons tend to be slower firing, but more damaging than those of their rivals, preferring missiles, and the use of movement and offensive overcharge effects. Ship style: symmetry, smoothness, organicism, and grace (hard to do with the smaller ships). Colors: white with green trim and blue glow, gray trenches between armor plating’s. Naming theme: religious terminology, Idles, and ideas. Internal spaces are roomy, arched vaulted hallways, domed rooms, and maybe a chapel in cruisers and battle cruisers, while churches in battleships and carriers, and a cathedral in the dreadnought. Ships are short and stout with elliptical framing.

Seraphim: the Seraphim are an alien faction, here to cleanse the galaxy of humans. The Seraphim poses superior technologies and sleek designs similar to the Illuminate, but disjointed and free floating. Ship style: Simmental in overall shape yet asymmetrical, free floating, and alien looking. Colors: orange and grey. This faction is not required but anyone is welcome to try building ships for this faction. Internal spaces <Classified> Ship scaling are <Classified>

Shipyards need to look like they were built as if they were expanded on existing stations, much like the factories in Supreme Commander.

large T3 Classes ‘have advantages over’ Medium T2 Classes ‘have advantages over’ Small T1 Classes ‘have advantages over’ large T3 Classes

Original ships must fit the faction theme and class size. Modified ships that still fit the faction theme is called a “[creator’s chosen name] variant [ship class]”, but those that don’t fit are labeled as “[creator name]’s custom [ship class]”.

<Experimental Classes T1 to T4>. Ships larger than T3, HIGHLY specialized, or large for its purpose are labeled as an experimental ship.

Leech Cybran Experimental Energy Thief – designed to get in close, taking advantage of enemy blind spots and open docking ports to steal energy to turn the tide of battle. Large energy compacters and both a jamming device and a clocking device allow for temporary clocking or permanent clocking while draining a ship, but overall defenseless.

Gorillalord Cybran Experimental Dreadnought – loaded with two side mounted Heavy Microwave Lasers (the same type as found on a Monkeylord!) and 6 dual pulse laser cannons (beam – pulse). It lacks on AA and complete heavy armor coverage but will tear enemy fleets to shreds in minutes if not dealt with quickly!

Vettenomo Aeon Illuminate Experimental AA Gunboat – covered in many AA, point defense, tractor beams, and lock-on missiles turrets, it will effetely clear the area of all light ships up to corvette class (including S-bombers) and heavily damage frigates and destroyers too boot. However it has trouble defending itself against larger vessels.

Grand Tsar Aeon Illuminate Experimental Dreadnought – a very large ship with some dual pulse cannon turrets and a single massive beam weapon (the big brother of the Czar!).

BigMan UEF Experimental Mobile Shipyard (if allowed) – able to build fighters, bombers, corvettes, frigates and destroyers while stationary, yet still packs a mean punch with 12 large tri-barreled long ranged turrets (cannon-beam).

If not allowed - Taylor UEF Experimental Dreadnaught, very heavy armor, massive tri-cannon turrets, and a single primary fired Mavor mounted to the frame (Technically it’s a powerful cannon-cannon or pulse with piercing effect aiming for an 8 second reload time).

El Dorado UEF Experimental Super Carrier – a massive carrier with massive amounts of AA turrets, lock-on missile turrets, and a large carrying compactly for smaller vessels but can store a few destroyers too!

    <Heavy Classes – T3 Shipyard needed>

Everest Class UEF Battleship, very large ship with double thick advanced armor, some crystal armor plating, and 8 large tri-barreled cannon turrets, but lacks in AA.

Sterben Class Cybran Battleship, the smallest of the factions Battleships with 5 exposed duel-barreled laser and an added ion beam turrets (3 guns total per turret), what it lacks in armor and guns gains in speed, maneuverability, and a lower building cost.

Avatar Class Aeon Illuminate Battleship, able to bring its 8 massive single pulse cannons (Cannon–Pulse), 16 medium duel beam cannons with pulling effect, and a single primary fired explosive hulk missile (nuke). It lacks any AA, relaying on other Illuminate ships for AA defense.

Nucleus Class Cybran Carrier able to field many Lithium fighter/bombers on its hull acting as both turrets and spacecraft. Best used for flanking due to its fast speed and duel jump drive, but at a cost of limited independent AA and counter ship defenses mostly relaying on its Lithiums.

Higgs Variant Nucleus Class - replaces ½ of the Lithium dockers with medium laser turrets.

Sovereign Class UEF Carrier large mixed hold for Falcon fighters and Vulture bombers (both are equal sized) some corvette docking for Eagle Space Supremacy Fighters and Tiger Strategic Bombers, and lots of AA coverage.

Strat-missile Variant Sovereign Class - able to deck fire an explosive hulk missile (nuke) at the cost of corvette and 1/3 normal docking space.

Heaven Class Aeon Illuminate Carrier, pre-set holds for Crosse fighters and Priest bombers (Priests are slightly bigger then Crosses), deck launched LRMs, and lots of AA coverage.

Tungsten Class Cybran Battle-Cruiser a capital ship designed for hit and run fleet operations, able to dock smaller ships (up to 2 destroyers, 4 Frigates, or 6 corvettes) to its duel hulls and bring 6 duel-barreled medium laser turrets to bear.

Missile Platform Variant Tungsten Class – firing 2 tactical nukes (EMP hulk missiles) instead of docking ships.

Salvager Variant Tungsten Class – 6 medium salvager turrets and a large cargo hold instead of docking ships.

Senator Class UEF Battle-Cruiser a capital ship designed for vanguard assaults. Primary fired explosive rapid missiles (missile–cannon), 6 duel long barreled cannon turrets, and 12 small anti-missile point defenses.

Salvo Variant Senator Class - replaces the main missile launcher with a buster cannon (cannon – pulse).

Apostle Class Aeon Illuminate Battle-Cruiser a capital ship designed for long range combat with 8 medium duel long ranged cannons (cannon – beam) and a primary fired quad Long Ranged Missiles (missile – beam) with some stopping effect.

    <Medium Classes – T2 Shipyards needed>

Metalloid Class Cybran Cruiser, a fast ship with 4 medium duel beam turrets and aft fired LRMs.

Meteoroid Variant Metalloid Class - its hull is coated in rock and red crystal using pop-up laser beam turrets and aft fired hulk missiles.

Executive Class UEF Cruiser, heavy side mounted armor plates to ‘tank’ and draw enemy fire, ion defensive effect, 5 medium duel cannon turrets and 2 primary side mounted rail guns (cannon-beam)

Gospel Class Aeon Illuminate Cruiser, staying true to the Aeon style their Cruiser has a massive primary fired cannon, however it lacks in energy production to make room for energy compacters but alleviates this by “barrowing” it from its allies using energy drain beams.

Nurse Class Cybran Freighter support craft with medium holds, some AA, and equal parts salvage and astro-tech turrets.

Medic Class UEF Freighter support craft with large holds, some AA, light ship deterrents, and equal parts shield supply and astro-tech turrets.

Monk Class Aeon Illuminate Freighter support craft with large holds, some AA, and equal parts energy supply and astro-tech turrets.

Scalpel Class Cybran Destroyer, a ship well suited for its hit-and-run nature, blazing fast but at a cost of armament as it only has two single beam turrets and four CIWSs.

Legionnaire Class UEF Destroyer, a well balanced ship. Two single barreled long cannons, six CIWSs, and a primary rail gun (cannon-beam).

Inquisitor Class Aeon Illuminate Destroyer, a ship designed purely for AA; firing swarms of heat seekers and is coated in CIWS but can’t properly defend itself with only a single primarily fired MRM.

    <Light Classes – T1 Shipyards needed> (T1’s don’t have jump drives)

    Magnesium Class Cybran Frigate

    Jaguar Class UEF Frigate

    Immortal Class Aeon Illuminate Frigate

Parasite Cybran Stealth Ship, a small shieldless corvette class vassal with basic armor, standard hulk missiles, and high energy production for permanent clocking, except for firing. (Warning will be very hard to build, but Stealthcruiser MK II by aceface shows it is possible)

Sulfur Cybran Strategic Bomber, a corvette class vassal using 100% overcharge effect to increases speed to out run most fighters, missiles, and AA, firing hulk missiles with a slight ion effect, and a jamming device.

Eagle UEF Space Supremacy Fighter (Think F-22 when building), a corvette class vassal meant to intercept enemy bombers and protect allied bombers, its more powerful than the Falcon.

Tiger UEF Strategic Bomber (think B-1 Lancer when building), a corvette class vassal meant to make long passes firing explosive hulk missiles and has a rear gunner turret (cannon – cannon) to fire at chasing fighters and missiles.

Missionary Aeon Illuminate Gunship a corvette class vassal meant to assault enemy turrets.

Arbitrator Aeon Illuminate Strategic Bomber a corvette class vassal meant to make long passes firing powerful hulk missiles with a slight push effect.

Vulture UEF Bomber, fires explosive missiles and can be loaded with a buster bomb (a small pre-made explosive ship). (think A-10 Thunderbolt II when building).

Priest Aeon Illuminate Bomber, fires swarms of heat-seeking cluster missiles.

Lithium Cybran Fighter/Bomber, “why use two?” is the Cybran’s motto for its fighter. Tri laser beams for fighter use and small hulk missile for bomber use.

Falcon UEF Fighter (think F-16 when building), it has four rapid cannons the most of all the factions fighters.

Cross Aeon Illuminate Fighter, duel auto cannons (2 cannons – 1 cannon) and a small lock-on missile.

See based on the title I was planning on using a "The Way" meme from Aeon before I read anything. :p

I might make something for this.
