Hey guys this is my first suggestion, although you probably don't care! :D

I was thinking it would be cool to have a Shell docking unit, so that when a core docks onto it, it's shields, power, etc would be shared and it's navigation diamond would dissapear, being shared with the one from the Shell it docked with. You would also inherit the control options from weapons, etc. This would allow you to detatch from your ship in battle and retreat, as well as the ability to study a common ship to blow off its control section and hijack it with a control-pod you make yourself (you would still need to be strong enough to actually break into its hull, go through shields and carve away the shell connector perfectly), giving people a much higher insentive to make their own ship, or use a less common one.

Also we really need to be able to link cockpits to computers so multi-crew weapons can actually have proper views so you can fire right.

OFF-TOPIC: Non-diet soda, namely Root-Beer, increases cognitive abilities without near as many unwanted side-effects of any other soda because of its low syrup content, high caffine content and non-use of artificial sweeteners. This increases brain awareness and processing speed, while only minimally decreasing descision making ability.

Just a little fun fact to thank you for reading.

Good idea, maybe you could extend your shields to a smaller ship as well, like the star trek episode where they need to protect another ship. Just a thought.

i think this could be implemented by adding new block with shields expanding ability - basically something like docking enhancer so it would expand shields outwards.

drawbacks of this would be increased target size of ship/station (easier to hit) and a way to bypass shields by simply moving your cannons end inside the shields (so you can protect ships that fly between your shields and hull but at the same time any ship/cannon end that\'s in there could directly shoot at your hull).

Among other things, people building Star Trek ships could build separate nacelle and disk ships. When docked, they would operate normally, but could seperate like they did in Star Trek: Generations, for example.
