In build mode or astronaut mode if you remove "rock" and replace it, it gets put down as a shard block...the yellow colour one. And if you salvage it it goes back into your inv as "rock".
Another strange one, when I came out of build mode on a planet, it was like I was in a core, and being pinged around the planet, no control...then the screen jerked and I was in astronaut mode out in orbit of the planet :-/
