Stop docked entity undock due to damage

    To "break" docked armor I think overheated entity just need to lose shield, power and thrust regen.
    I think Lancake's "... becomes non physical to weapons..." would do the trick. Then all hits would pass through the docked armor and hit the main entity below.

    Lancake then continues with ...
    Rebooting would restore its HP etc.
    I would suspect this would be how you could salvage the ship including docked entities.

    Sadly, this sacrifices the ability to salvage the docked entity upon being sliced off the main entity.

    Seemed like one of the big points of rails was to make non-plexdoor doors. I and many others certainly don't even try anymore, since if the door gets blasted off, the server starts shitting the bed.

    What about the issue of docked plate?

    If they undock they slam dunk the server
    If they dont undock it means 0 punishment for having a docked plate the size of your literal ship (Roninx "demonstrated" it on Brierie by losing his docked plate mid fight..... and well.. welcome to crash land)
    How about we worry about the real balance issues with docked hull? Docked hull is broken because shield sharing isn't 100% and momentum effects don't transfer properly. Fix these instead. Docked hull is not balanced by the fact it can be undocked.

    Yes. Because at this point the ship can no longer juggle shield entities and will start to take proper damage. If the server hasn't crashed due to the docked armor undocking.

    I understand the shield passdown % is an issue of debate, but is the effect passdown? Does anyone actually oppose having stop/pull/EMP/etc cascade on to the parent entity? Because this should be pretty easy for Schine to fix.

    not sure it this was mentioned but what if the block worked how the ship core does in that once its destroyed stuff goes through it but it still retains the dock, and it would also stop providing shields and power up the chain

    its a good idea. it should be implemented asap. its just not enough to stop the massive shitstorm of lag and its not good enough to stop docked shit from being op. something is better than nothing though.

    fix dmg xfer across entities.
    fix movement effect transfer across entities
    fix drain transfer across entities
    fix shield inheritance
    force shield recharge outage for all docked entities
    fix docked mass calcs for ship dims
    fix imbalance between docked mass and base mass
    fix e/s scaling
    FIX DOCKED ENTITY COLLISION CHECKS OR SEPARATE PHYSICS CALCS. if i have a core docked to my ship and my ship moves, the core docked to it shouldnt jiggle around in its bounding box and look jagged or lagging behind the main entity, it should act as part of it.

    im aware some of these things are REALLY hard to fix, or not intended to be fixed at all. im aware some of these things are already being worked on, or will become irrelevant after a big update. but until every single one of these things changes, docked hulls will continue to be op, prob even more op than they are now if op suggestion is made and theyll continue to be laggy as fuck. im not going to publicly tell people how and why to abuse the proposed idea.

    all in all, i still think its a good idea to help servers, but its a bandaid like he said, and its not enough. i didnt think i needed to elaborate when my original statement was really clear and most of the guys in here understand the games mechanics pretty well lol
