What is the Difference with starmade on this web sight vs the steam one?

Both options have free and paid models. There currently is no difference between the two but that may change in the future. The steam version gives you access to steam overlays as well as all other steam features in game. If you don't use steam that may not be appealing so you can just use the website version. As a heavy steam user I was looking forward to the steam version for a long time.
