This Episode shows start to finish conversion of .OBJ to .binvox then imported as a ship in Starmade. I used the Model Daedalus from the TV Show Stargate Atlantis and sourced this from the Trimble 3D Warehouse.

This is a pre-tutorial of sorts. The proper Tutorials are taking longer than expected and I received many messages from people asking for two things. How to install / obtain SMedit and how to use BinVox to voxelise the .obj models. So I made Ep162/163 to answer those questions :D

This Tool is subject to change and this is meant as a brief outline of what it can do. I have barely scratched the surface with this!

The proper SMedit Tutorials will be released soon!

    Sketchup: http://www.sketchup.com/

The sketchup software is free so it's nice we can use that to make our own models from Scratch if we want!

Thanks for doing this. Your tutorials are tons better than mine. Leaves me free to concentrate on adding features and bugs to the tools. Sorry, that should be fixing bugs! :)

    Great tutorial!

You can also use wings3d as well to do 3d modeling, read 3ds files and export to obj and wrl, both formats supported by binvox and it is free.
