Starmade on an Acer Aspire V3 Laptop

Hello, my friend has issues with Starmade. He said it doesn't even show the logo, it crashes before that.
Can you run starmade on an Acer? It has an i7 with an Nvidaia Card (switchable graphics).

He has looked over the support section and has come up empty handed.

once again, it's an:
Acer Aspire V3

Hopefully you guys can help.

Make sure Javaw.exe uses the Nvidia graphics.

Some more hardware info would be good. There are many versions of the Acer Aspire V3
