Hello. I'm running an Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.84 GHz WinXP PRO SP3, Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT 1GB, 3.25GB RAM. Roughly after 30 minutes or so, StarMade will just simply disappear from the screen, and go to desktop.

If I restart the game, I get the JVM crash error message and about the Intel graphics cards. I have updated my video card's drivers last nite, and my Java is 7 version 25.

May or may not be a new bug, but just wanted to report it.

We\'re in the same boat, Captain.

I\'m running a Core 2 Duo; XP Pro SP3; Nvidia Quadro 580; 4GB DDR2; all latest drivers on a 2 week old Windows install. On my machine it crashes like this more frequently if I\'m in a crowd -- say at the default undeathinator. Servers with a lot of traffic will crash me in as little as 5 minutes if I hang around with the group -- and after the game has crashed, if I restart and login again, I usually crash again within just a a few seconds. As though something somewhere has been filled to the brim with data and just won\'t take anymore. The only cure for it seems to be to login and run to a less populated sector before it blinks out.

On a low-traffic server I can play almost indefinely without crashing.

Captain, have you tried creating a profile in the Nvidia Control Panel for the starmade-starter? See the bottom of this post for the details. I\'ve been tinkering with my control panel but to no avail. The Quadro control panel seems to be a little different than the GeForce line and none of the changes I\'ve made have solved it for me.

Just tried logging onto Braerie after update and I was insta-crashed before the first local chunk could finish rendering. It seems clear now that it has nothing to do with video drivers. I can load and play the game indefinately as long as I\'m on a server with a light-load, and not in a sector with half a dozen players.

I ran into a carrier-class Pirate ship the other day on a new server I\'m playing -- one of these giant ships that rains down torrents of anti-matter beams per second. Well, there was another another giant ship free-floating in the same sector so I hid behind it / ended up hajacking it.

As soon as I turned my new ship\'s massive cannon array on the pirate ship\'s massive cannon array -blink- I\'ve crashed to the desktop. Tried logging back in to finish the fight and again, once I open fire the game crashes with no error handler. (Until restart, and then \'JVM: Update drivers.\')

Common theme? A lot of data passing between server and client?

I *used* to have an intel core duo in my laptop. I got the same errors you are getting and even a few on my new desktop (using and AMD fx 4130 and Nvidia GTX 650 TI Boost) and I think the problem may also stem to Nvidia GPU\'s... Will investigate further.

And yes, the issue is pretty well known

No real solution as of yet. Still get these crashes occasionally. But it\'s less frequent these days. If you are getting this kind of crash a lot, try this: In the StarMade launcher (first screen with Schema\'s latest post) click Options in the upper left, then Memory Settings. You can tinker with how much ram gets allocated for the client/singleplayer here. Pushing it from the default of 512mb to 1024mb seemed to reduce the frequency with which I get the ubiquitous JVM crashes. To be honest, I\'m not really sure if the memory settings made the difference, or if its been patches, or what. It\'s gotten better, one way or the other.

Maybe it was this. Give it a try.
