I think that solar flares of different strength coming from stars every so often would be amazing, and depending on the strength would cause all sorts of chaos, from electrical disturbances to disruption in radar and ship's jamming and cloaking devices. And also possibly bringing down shields and all power for a certain amount of time.

so you mean something like some server lags right now. That when it lags for a second,
and all your power, and schields are settet to zero.
and all that in a solar flar reaction?
would be nice, but the sun itself should be more destructive.
It shouldnt be able for a pilot to fly into the sun with just some hullblock damage, like it is right now.
