Bug SocketTimeoutException: Read Timed Out

I keep getting this error everytime I try to download ANY version of starmade using the new launcher, no one else has posted anything to be of help, anyone have any solutions?

gets to 99% (29.8 MB) on the jar, hangs then produces the error in title

Try using the older but finished launcher

You did not suplly much information there!

OperatingSystem? Java version?
Where did you place the launcher ? (Maybe a problem with administrator permissions ?)
Does it work with the v9 launcher at the same location ?

One thing using Windows Vista or later that can really hamper operations for programs that need to read and write from and to the hard-disk is using the default Program Files and Program Files(x86) folders. These are extra protected for writing by the OS and need extended user account rights.
Easiest solution if this is the case is to install the launcher v.12 in any other location then either of those.

So, after contacting the administrator of that server, it seems he could get it to work again, this was indeed a server-side error. Well at least everyone was down, so my ship wasn't in any kind of danger...
