(Following occurred on the shattered skies server, default max speed there=150 m/s, with overclock=300 m/s)

I was recycling an old ship, however when I was about to delete the core I noticed that it (somehow) had negative mass.
Core normaly is 1.3 mass, but I had -1.3 mass
Intrigued I tired taking it for a drive and boy was it fast!!
So I stuck a thruster on, and then whenever I pressed a movement key it would instantly accelerate up to the max speed in that direction in about 1/10th of a second.
I then attached a bunch of overdrive moduals... and oh boy......
One press and I was traveling a few km per second....

So I experimented further, I found that safe crusing speeds were about 6-7km/s however I managed to get up to 20km/s before I started having rubber-band issues.
It simply looks amazing to be zooming through the galaxy at breakneck speed.....

If I get time Ill record a video, because it really is jaw-dropping. I hope that we get an alternate jump drive which allows us to move like this in the future.

In the mean time Ill continue to play around with negative mass ships to see what other secrets they hold XD

Also, if that has negative mass, is it possible to blueprint it, make more of them, and dock them to something? I'd think that would result in... well, craziness o_O

Reminds me of how I used to download more RAM.

or you could do a "portal" style trick with some warpgates and an object with a strong gravitational pull. Like, say, a blackhole.

start at the outergate, get accelerated into the inner gate, and then get warped to the outergate and then get pulled to the inner gate again...

then divert into the small gate next to the inner gate that is to your destination. blammo!

I have done this with jump drive on SS. It took forever to slow back down to normal speeds. (Moral of the story - next time keep an overdrive computer aboard to toggle on/off and cut speed)

Reminds me of the mass driver I made back on the old Saturn server. Propelled cores over 50 sectors, which at the time was a huge distance. Still is, sort of.

3 questions...1 how did you do that? 2 Does it still work? 3 Can you teach me how to build one? :)

    1. With blocks.

    2. Hell if I know, lost the BP when SATURN went down.

    3. Push pulse. Push pulse errywear. No idea whether or not that will still work. The thing was over 1km in the X and Y axis, so have fun recreating it. Here's a picture. (sorry for outdated)

    Add a warhead to that...
Set warhead damage to 500,000 and radius to 32...

Sadly push effect can no longer push things over the top speed as dictated by their TWR, not sure about push-pulse tho.
