I recently purchased a StarMade dedicated server from SMProhosting and the first thing i noticed was how easy it was to navigate around the server files. With access to the console and almost all files*, the service they provide is definitely suitable for any first time server owners. The server itself had low ping for most of my players which provided a fairly playable gaming experience.
And now for the faults.
The chat was constantly spammed by the server with absolutely no way to stop the spam. SMProhosting's support is slow, and more than often the responses you receive for your support tickets are generic copy-paste. The SMprohosting's site is also very poorly maintained. No information in the data base, no personal information about the company, no information in the faq, and 404'd links.
You are provided access to all the servers files, but not the jar itself, which leads to the biggest fault of this company. Seeing how Starmade is a game which is still in its early development stages, the game will be expected to have alot of updates/bugfixes in short periods of time, which normally wouldnt be an issue- But- SMProhosting manually changes their jars, which doesnt always happen right away, and in most cases, it takes days for them to update the jar.
For those of you who are familiar with other traditional server providers, you would find that the service offered by SMProhosting is below par. All around I was not happy with their service and would caution potential buyers to do check around before purchasing a server from SMProhosting.
I'd rate 2/5 for their low price and easy access, but poor customer service and lack of overall control of your servers version.
