Are Slab-Display blocks possible with the limited bits per block?

They could have displays on the inner side so we can use them as table.

Extravagant: Orientation could match from where the player looks at it so that it always fits.

Ooh, is that a good suggestion thread? Time to take it over!*

Honestly it's better to do a proper overhaul of the whole thing and make it so that you can slap the display onto any side of any block, even cover all it's sides in displays and collapse on the floor, drooling from the information overload.
Something like a highly-configurable and logic-compatible "projector" block that, well, projects display(s) onto any block, invisible/intangible blocks like area triggers included.

So instead of jumping through numerous hoops to get your sweet holographic thingamabob for your prized doohickey you just place an invisible block, C-V "projector" to it and set it to whatever scale needed. Same for any other block, including slabs and wedges.
Sleek displays in offices, holographic "path" for station-bound vessels, billboards displaying ads and information (Huge billboard with server rules in spawn sector, anyone?) or maybe ship's floor plan with "You are here" sign, fancy "reticles", holographic ship status displays on bridge... The possibilities are nearly endless. Make it interactive and logic enthusiasts will love you forever.

But why stop at text when you could project block textures as well? Make every smuggler's wet dream come true with hidden doors to secret cargo compartments. Have a fancy "forcefield" in your carrier's hangar that you can pass through. With some clever engineering you can even make optical camouflage to disguise your warship as a heavy cargo hauler, or scare away any pirates by disguising your barely spaceworthy rust bucket as a huge battlecruiser. Maybe even infiltrate enemy space in a tiny stealth ship, docked to cargo transport as a container, then pretend to be an asteroid whenever enemy patrol shows up. Or, I don't know, prank people with holographic stairs and fake doors.
    *It's a joke.
