I'd like to get some opinions/advice about this, the server.cfg setting for "Simultaneous AI Simulations" ... Mine is currently set to 256, and players complain about a lack of pirates spawning. I got to thinking if I have 15 players logged in, and they're running turrets on their ships, plus on their spare ships, plus on their stations, that could easily be maxing out the AI, and maybe that's why pirates don't show up?

So my question is how high can I take this setting without experiencing big issues when the count starts to become maxed? I'd hope for around 1000, and I know that Minecraft can run way more than that with no problem with it's mobs (there's not even a hard cap).

I'd love to hear directly from Schema about this setting and it's implications, as well as what other people have found and what settings they use (please also include your average server traffic for comparison).

    Thanks for reading, please contribute!

I suggest, reduce the value of this variable in server.cfg:

SIMULATION_SPAWN_DELAY = 420 //How much seconds between simulation spawn ticks

Waiting for 7 minutes for the new \"Spawn\" is a lot of time if there are many players who quickly destroyed all pirates.

People have made this clear but don\'t compare something in this game to minecraft. The ONLY similarity is that MineCraft and StarMade are made in java. Everything else is completely different. How many entities starmade can handle depends on the engine and the code. Regarding the simulation value it will mostly depend on how much ram you have. The more entities that have to be loaded the more ram will be needed.
