Ship lights lighting other objects in space

The current PlexLights and PlexBeacons seem not to light objects they are not attatched to. It would be great if I could put some headlights on my salvaging ship to see into the dark caves left behind. I could fly close in and the lights would illuminate the blocks in front of my ship.
