    Hello

I have only been able to find old post regarding shield sharing between mother ships and docked entities like turrets.

i'm interested in knowing if shield are shared between mother ship and turret base and barrel segments or it is still each there own?

I hope shields are shared because that would allow them to be much smaller...
[doublepost=1473488121,1473487054][/doublepost]what about a docked entity firing on and enermy and hitting the mother ship, is damage appield then ?

base entity shields anything docked to it till it drops below 50%, same for each entity up the chain.

Scenario: Mothership has 10,000 shields, turret base has 200 shields, turret barrel has 200 shields
    1. execute 1: Weapon hits the turret barrel, does 5,099 damage.
      • 5001 damage passes though to the main ship, drops it to 49.99% shields,
      • 98 damage passes though to the turret base, dropping it to 51% shields.
      • no block damage is done to barrel.
    2. execute 2: Weapon hits turret barrel, does 5300 damage.
      • 5001 damage passes though to the main ship, drops it to 49.99% shields,
      • 101 damage passes though to the turret base, dropping it to 49.99%
      • 198 damage passes though to the turret barrel shields, dropping it to 1%.
      • no block damage is done to barrel.
    3. execute 3: Weapon hits turret base, does 5300 damage.
      • 5001 damage passes though to the main ship, drops it to 49.99% shields,
      • 200 damage passes though to the turret base, dropping it to 0% shields
      • 99 block damage is done to base.
    4. execute 4: damage hits turret barrel, does 5500 damage.
      • 5001 damage passes though to the main ship, drops it to 49.99% shields,
      • 101 damage passes though to the turret base, dropping it to 49.99%
      • 200 damage passes though to the turret barrel shields, dropping it to 0%.
      • 198 block damage is done to barrel.
    5. execute 5: damage hits turret base, does 5500 damage.
      • 5001 damage hits the main ship, drops it to 49.99% shields,
      • 200 damage passes though to the turret base shields, dropping it to 0%
      • 299 block damage is done to base.
it's always good to have atleast 1 recharge block, because cores naturally give shields but no regen. :)

thanks for a very good answeer
    Unfortunately it's threefoldly wrong.
    1. The shield sharing limit is 25%, not 50%, that was changed a while ago.
    2. Damage first goes to the shields of the entity that was hit. If a turret barrel was hit, the damage first depletes the barrel's shields, then the base's shields and at last the shields of the mothership.
    3. If the mothership has 10 000 shields, a docked entity has 200 shields and the latter is hit with 9000 damage in a single hit, then the mothership's shields will go down to 1199 (the barrel's shields will keep their last point). However, if the barrel is hit with 11 000 damage in a single hit, the mothership's shields won't be damaged at all and all damage will go to the barrel. Apparently shield sharing is deactivated, if a hit would completely deplete the main entity's shields.
    2. and 3. are the results from a test I just performed in the game (v0.199.172), so I'm pretty sure it's correct.

Oh cool. So should I even bother to have more than bare minimum shields on my turrets? And an internal base would be better spent putting shields on the main ship correct?
