So I've been monitoring this for about a week now and I have come to the conclusion that everyones 'missing ship' problems can be solved some of the time!
So basically anytime a server has a nice sized hiccup it decides to either 'Roll back' the location of a ship. Or it will roll back certain work you did on the ship. It also can roll back other blocks that were messed with. But it is very selective. So for instance, I put angled glass on one of my ships. Then later I put a faction module and shields on. But on a huge server crash the angled glass was no longer there and the faction module and shields still were. So it's not 'rolling back' essentially as everything goes back in time. It's specifically selecting certain work you have done and reverting it back.
I have noticed this on space stations as well. So for instance I show up to our new station that we will be making a home base. Our team is hard at work converting the colors. I throw a faction module down and claim it. I build a few docking ports and land some ships. I go to bed.... When I wake up the next day all but a couple of the ships are missing. Some are randomly out in space or by shops. Now returning to the station the only thing that was changed was any work built with symmetry. The 'mirrored' side was no longer there. But the side where blocks were actually placed was.
Then after another huge crash, server is down for a while and I log back in. Now over half the work put into the changing of colors of gone, the faction module is gone, all evidence of ever parking ships is gone. But while these blocks have reverted, the ships that had not be selectively moved to other sectors were still in their same exact positions.
So what is it that causes the game to randomly select blocks it wants to either delete, or revert back to a previous state and completely ignore others. I've noticed sometimes your 'missing' ships will be found elsewhere. Like areas you landed on planets or at shops you had been to earlier that day.
If anyone else has been noticing similar problems please feel free to add details so these things can be fixed ASAP. As it currently stands it is impossible to make progress in this amazing game if everytime you log in it's like starting all over.
