    Yep it's me again

Anyone know how to correct this.
As it stands I am unable to edit anything in my server. It's really slow building in ten block long increments.

    Thanks

    PLAYER_MAX_BUILD_AREA = 50 //max area a player may add/remove in adv. build mode
This found in the "server" file open with you note pad so the value can be changed from 10 to 50

Yes I am aware of this, pardon my explanation, what I ment was that changing any of the values in server.cfg will not alter the settings in the actual server.

It seems that upon purchasing the game from steam, it created a version independent from the original free download of the game. As such the .cfg will not work for the steam version. I am trying to correct this.

Look into the installation path accessible from the installation settings in the launcher, when launching from steam.

It does create a new installation, you need to edit the correct file, located in the steamapps directory. In your Steam library, right click on Starmade, go to properties, find and click on the 'local files' tab 'browse local files'. It will take you to the steam version of the game. Find the server.cfg for it here and change the values you want.

Ah yes, um forgot to mention I'm on a Mac (I know, might as well play games on a computer made of wood.) As such stuff it has different names for things, but one would think the principle should remain the same. Right clicked on the Starmade/steam app, clicked show package contents, opened it, and got "info.plist" which is a bunch of rubbish, MacOS which leads to a "run.sh" once again rubbish "/bin/bash #autogenerated file -donot edit etc." Finally there is Resources, which initially looked promising, but only leads to different sized images of the steam app logo!? -_-

Well a PC made of wood has its uses. The first Apple computers were screwed down to plywood anyhow. But they too have bad opengl support. It's funny that Apple decided to use INTEL hardware to 'simplify things'. Irony. Irony everywhere.

You do have one fun option, bootcamp. And I'd suggest using some form of linux. BUT we do need to get the game running well on macs so.. I wish I had more help right away. Keep at it and post about it regularly. Something might just click into place.

The best thing to do is to look at the installation path. If it is a relative path(starts with ./ or ../), you'd also need to look at the launchscript.

none of this is relevant to the issue at hand

I can help you out here.

I'm going to assume that you've made your library visible via terminal already. If you haven't, use this handy-dandy tutorial here.

Once you've done that, you'll be able to view the library, and more importantly, the application support folder. Go into [User]>Library>Application Support>Steam>steamapps>common>Starmade>Starmade>server.cfg

To help you out I took a picture of the path you take through the finder.

You were looking in the wrong place. All that is is an alias/shortcut that launches the game. Hope I was able to help.

Great! It worked! I don't know why I wasn't looking in the library in the first place.

Thanks for figuring it out Comr4de.

    Thanks for the support guys.

*wants to set the status of the ticket to "resolved" but then notices this isn't a ticket on the support-site, but a thread in the support-forum*
    How could this even…
