How cool would it be if you and your friends could all sit down in front of the ship's various monitors Star-Trek style?
Currently, when you enter the ship core, your character is folded neatly and packed inside a box, in which he can then teleport to other camera boxes to get a different perspective on the ship. That's nice, and it should definitely be a feature, but we should also have actual chairs, as seen in the game's trailer. The seats would come in various colors of half-block, and your character will be visible sitting on top of it. If you take damage while sitting down, you will be ejected from the seat.
The way it would work is that a chair would be connected to a module the same way effect modules are, and then the person in that particular seat would have control over that specific module. So, if you want a seat to be the Captain's/Pilot's chair, all you have to do is connect it to the core, and it grants this person normal piloting and building privileges. Also, if somebody is in the core, another person cannot get in the seat connected to the core, the same rule applying to other modules.
This makes it so people who are happy with the current "get smashed into the ship core" system are able to do what they want, while people who enjoy creating these highly detailed bridges can give the bridge a purpose.
Now, since chairs will allow ships to facilitate a crew, not everybody should be able to have building privileges at once; that could cause some unwanted problems, a pretty obvious one being a crew member who isn't happy with the ship's leadership going rogue and deleting the core systems of the ship. To solve this, only people in control of a build block and/or the core may edit the ship.
Now, to accompany these chairs, we would then have the need for a substitute camera block. Well, I have the solution; monitors. You would simply connect your existing camera blocks to a monitor, and it will display the image.
