I think it would be nice if scanners, given enough time, could highlight internal weapons groups and ship systems and provide data about those systems.
For example, a stealth scouting ship could take some time scanning to determine the DPS of a battleships main cannons and shields on board and where the blocks are in the structure, this data would be stored in the scanner computer as a lesser version of a blueprint and could be transferred to an allied battleship. Where it can be loaded into the battleships scanning computer and utilized. The data can be sold to factions aligned against the ship in question for a considerable sum or used to set up a raiding party.

How long it takes to get a complete scan will depend on the size of your sensor array, distance to target, and the size of the ship you are trying to scan. A small array of the scout ship will only be effective at short range, and can take up to a minute to scan a large ship, making it necessary to stealth in and remain undetected. While a bigger ship carrying a large array could take a minute to scan a ship at long range or if engaged in combat at close range only take a few seconds to gather limited data.

This would make scouting much more of a necessity if your faction plans on attacking an enemy fleet.

I also think that if a weapon group is damaged and 25% of its blocks are destroyed then it would be disabled for an amount of time relative to how many blocks are left, bringing tactical decisions into combat and an actual use for the scan data.
