    Scanners would be googles or ship equipment that allow You to see through choosed type of blocks.

    If You want to hit weapons of enemy You could make his hulls transparent so You will see how to deal more damage to them.

    Maybe instead it would highlight areas with weaponry. I'm thinking that it highlights a 3x 3x 3x cube around the weaponry blocks that way you would only know the general area.

    Scanners should allow you to view the contents of a ship/planet/space thing

    It would work in a beam, want to scan a planet? beam it, want to scan a ship, beam it!

    the amount of scanners used would determine how well the scan goes and how accurate it would be

    This feature should really be folded into our helmets. Would make them more useful

    IMO, scanners (Handheld) should be required to see player and non-allied NPC markers... Would make ground combat far more fun and interesting.

    Scanners should also be able to check player/creature status

    If scanners were put into the game we would see less fighting ships and a bit more salvage ships.

    going around and salvaging stuff would actually be profitable, instead of everyone trying to raid pirate bases

    Just another thing to add on to it, you could make the scanner reveal mass, energy, shield and thrust statistics about the ship, or enter into a more precise mode and scan an individual system for its capabilities.

    Interesting. Maybe sensors which can sense things from far away? Like, in my imagnination, the core of a craft contains one of each function block or something, except shield rechargers. Maybe it has a sensor block inside it, and so does your astronaut, BUT! More blocks means bigger radar distance. Scanners could also see all the cloaked and radarjammed ships (I hate cloaking BTW..)
