Welcome to the Rogue Trader Shipyards, the design and construction section of the Rogue Trader Alliance. We have been lurking around this dark area of space for a while now, but only recently designed ships worthy of displaying to you folks. Without further ado, our ships:
Dart class Fighter
Stats:
Mass: 33.5
Length: 15m Height: 18m Width: 17m
Power: 20000 (17462.7 e/sec)
Thrust: 67.5
Shields: 8796 (670 s/sec)
The smallest ship in our collection, the Dart class may not be the prettiest, but is capable of sustained jamming, though requires recharge periods after moving or firing while jamming. It also features a light Quad AMC.
Tigershark class Frigate
Stats:
Mass: 1131.3 (11416)
Length: 112m Height: 21m Width: 23m
Power: 20000 (210938.2 e/sec)
Thrust:1514.1
Shields: 83768 (3636 s/sec) Blocks: 1058
The Tigershark class is the RTA's standard frigate, used in everything from convoy escort to major fleet engagements. It lacks turrets, relying on its heavy cannons and even heavier SD-BB missiles for combat. It is comparatively slow, especially when faced with the corvettes and light frigates of the enemy, a design oversight of the previous head builder. He is no longer with us, having been killed in a tragic accident involving a hyperspanner, too much space-booze, and 3 kittens.
Barracuda class Cruiser
Stats:
Mass: 3046.9
Length: 259m Height: 16m Width: 23m
Power: 638706 (925973.3 e/sec)
Thrust: 4863.6
Shields: 288719 (9199 s/sec) Blocks:6770
The first RTA capital ship, the Barracuda class is designed around speed and damage, with two heavy turrets and six light turrets (later versions may feature more of both, but for now this is as many as I can put up with). The design history of the Barracuda class is long and convoluted, as it was almost lost or straight-up destroyed by jealous competitors (also known as 'bugs'). But it is finally here, for everybody to melt their eyes upon!
Manta class Battleship
The Manta class is the RTA's... wait, theres nothing here! I guess this one is coming soon (hopefully).
Ship Classification System: ( I will be adding stuff/updating this frequently)
Fighter: Smallest type of military ship, designed for speed and manueverability, but lacking in shielding and firepower. 0.1-150 Mass Example: Dart class
Corvette: Bigger than a fighter, retaining most of the speed and manueverability, but adding more firepower and shielding. 150.1-500 Mass: Example: Dolphin class (coming soonish)
Gunboat: An odd one, this classification is basically for ships that aren't fast or manueverable enough to be a corvette, but not large enough to be a frigate. Often used for defending trade convoys, or in-system defence. 500.1-1000 Mass Example: None
Frigate: The mainstay of most fleets, the frigate strikes a balance between firepower and speed. While some designs feature turrets, most rely on heavy prow weaponry, making them more suited to taking out larger ships than themselves, leaving the fighters and corvettes to the turret-armed ships. 1000.1-3000 Mass Example: Tigershark class
Cruiser: The cruiser is seen in most fleets, either as a flagship of a small one or the main ships of a larger one. Most RTA cruisers are based on speed and turret-based firepower, differing from their frigatey cousins. Cruisers are also the smallest ships that can (sometimes) carry fighters. 3000.1-10000 Mass Example: Barracuda class
Heavy/Battle Cruiser:
The larger end of cruiser-class vessels, heavy cruisers are just bigger cruisers with more shielding and weaponry, though often sacrificing speed. Battlecruisers are specialized vessels, about the same size as a heavy cruiser but more designed around being the flagship of a fleet. This means they have better sensors and communications, as well as increased tactical control. They are also capable of carrying a small fighter wing. 10000.1-25000 Mass Example: None
Battleship:
The big one, the one you have all been waiting for. Battleships are the biggest known RTA starships, clocking in at over 500 meters long. They are studded with turrets, and have the most powerful shields and power systems. But that comes at a cost. Battleships are some of the slowest vessels, almost as slow as gunboats. This means they are always seen with at least a few cruisers guarding them, because losing a battleship is worse than losing a planet. 25000.1-125000 Mass Example: Manta class (almost done!)
Dreadnought: The only thing scarier than an RTA battleship? An RTA dreadnought. Rumor has it that the Deep Science team is working on a way to build one of these monstrosities, but they have not been confirmed. 125000.1-??? Mass Example: None
