1) Have handgun in slot 1.
2) Enter ship core or build block, and press Space to go build mode.
3) Make sure the handgun is selected.
4) Hold down CTRL key to be in advanced build mode.
5) Move mouse 1 pixel somewhere, or use mousewheel -> Game crash.
On sidenote, i did't know you can change station orientation with Ctrl+Mousewheel, very nice (but propably a little bit too easy for such major change). Don't know if that caused my ship to be docked upside-down, but anyways...
It might have something to do with block preview. Naturally gun doesn't have a block representation and you can't place it, so game doesn't know what to draw? In my options the block preview is disabled though, but i keep seeing them.
