    I have a few suggestions for randomly generated structures.

    1: More cities and pyramids with less loot

    2: (inspired by a comment from Cybertooth) Generated wrecked ships

    3: Underground structures

    4: Generated structures with defenses (lava plexdoor traps, suicidal dis-integrator ships, and turrets)

    I like UG structures and more pyramids. Every 3rd or 4th desert should have one. Some planets a few.

    Piramids IRL have traps too.


    Cities - do you want to write more about the generator behaviour? How to build a Building? How to build a city to look well and feel somewhat unique/random?


    Why do pirates not have some underground-city on some planets?

    This could, theoretically, happen by having:

    Randomly generated city symbols

    Randomly generated room layout within certain parameters

    Skyscrapers with similar rooms in differing orders

    I do not know how the planet generator is done. This post was a suggestion, not how things are now done. (Also, I know next to nothing about coding, so you may want to take your questions to another member of this excellent Starmade community).
