Public Permission Modules on Stations?

I'm working on a potential future home base that I would like to turn into a public trading hub, what is the trick to attach public permission modules to docking points?

I can't seem to attach the rail to the permission module nor the permission module to the rail.

Just place the public permission module next to the rail and it should work. Same if you place it next to a gravity module or a logic button to open doors.

Starmade is terrible inconsistent i to expected to have to C and V it. The first time i use one. But that is not the case. It can be confusing.

Essentially any block adjacent to a public permission block is accessible/useable by anyone.

Similar thing with a faction permission module anyone in the faction can access/use any adjacent block to it.

Yup, permission modules affect whatever they are physically touching.
