Problems with Bobby Ai module

    Im not sure is there is supposed to be a specific placement for this module, however when I activate the unit and get into my ship it gets turned off. I keep mine in my core room with all my other computers. When I turn it on outside of the ship it seems to stay on and if i check it again it remains on. When I get into my ship it shows it is not turned on and will not let me turn it on while in the ship. If i can only turn it on outside my ship and it turns off when I get in my ship I don't understand how people are using turrets as all mine seem to be dummy guns with out an active AI unit.
    I have no mods and I play in single player. I've cleared the game cache and even reset the universe bought my ship again. Are turrets not working for the moment because Ive seen some in action on user videos.

    You can enable/configure an AI by walking up to it and activating it with 'R'.
    When controlling a ship (or in a station's build block), you can do the same for AIs on docked turrets or ships via the Structure tab of the in-game menu (the one that opens with I/B/N/etc.). The options are located in the "Turret Docking System Collective" and "Fixed Docking System Collective" components.

    The AI has to be adjacent to (sides touching) the things it is supposed to control, usually a ship core and one or more weapon computers. It disables when you enter the core because it can't control the ship/turret while you control it. It would be nice it if automatically re-enabled when you exited the core, but that isn't the case.

    Im still having problems. I have the AI units on the turret active and Ive tried any and selected target but I cannot get them to fire. The turret is functional when inside the turret(even while docked) however, when I get out of the turret activate the AI and get into the main ship nothing happens even if i select a target it just sits there like a dummy gun. I even made the exact model I saw on a tutorial video which worked in the video. I have tried making sure the AI module touches the core and the weapons computer. Any more suggestions?

    I usually have the face of the module towards me should the face point at the core or a weapons computer?

    just curious but what was the solution as im having a similar problem, ive got turrets on an escort which was refitted from the old docking modules ( was working with those) all ive done is rip out the old docking stuff and replaced it with a rail axis and a rail docker onto the turret. the setup ive got on the turret is Ship core then in front of that is the ai and then the AMC computer in front of that ive got a faction module on the turret but its behind the ship core as i believe it wasn't nesscary to have it touching the Ai, active and set target and turret type and get into escort and nothing....... im confused as 1. they were working fine before the refit 2. ive stripped and rebuilt from scratch and no change 3. my friends turret is working fine and basically copied my design???? WTF? an clues people

    Hit both the ship/station and the bases of the turrets need mass enhancers on them if the turrets are over 50 mass. The main entity they are docked to needs at least enough to account for the heaviest turret but each base needs to account for its own barrel. >_>
