I'm looking to make a set of powerdrain beams of a particular size, but I don't know how powerful they are. Does anyone know the formula? It's really difficult to test it yourself due to inconsistencies in power ticks and power storage.

Alternatively does anyone know how to check the game's source code? I'm sure I could find the formula in there.

I have tried to work out the formula, http://www.xuru.org/rt/TOC.asp was helpful, but my data wasn\'t accurate enough to get a decent fit. I had one person draining me with varying numbers of drain blocks, while I timed how long it took to empty. I did learn that the best way to use them is all together in one block, 10,000 can drain (almost) anything.

The patch notes say they\'re 5x more effective when used against a power block, and I\'ve discovered that wedges don\'t appear to block the beam. You can pass through wedges and hit power blocks this way. Perhaps this is what was causing the confusion?

Also timing how long it takes to drain is not going to get you accurate numbers at all. Server lag can alter the flow of game time. Instead you should be using varying amounts of power generation, and comparing to see whether x beams can drain it at all.

In my tests, I found that 90 linked powerdrain beams was able to drain 1 million e/sec, even when focused on hull.

When did this happen? Last time I tested they did nothing vs non power blocks.

They certainly seem to work for me.
