or if you happen to land in a wormhole / sun / pirate station coming out of jump - especially if you've had to flee something else. similar with the lack of system scanning right now.
yes if you were making a blind jump/testing jump distance but that's why you can have pirates disabled and do this in as much of a cleared area as you can get. I always perform my jump tests on a universe with no pirates and surrounded by void sectors/systems. If you build close enough so that you do jump into a wormhole system, you should have been able to see it on the galaxy map (unless it was obscured by a faction). In that case you can admin warp out, use your jump drive again, or quickly add thrusters.

you mean if another player hits you or your incomplete ship without you knowing? In the first case that's easily solved unless the other player is doing it to mess with you, then you would have to ask them to stop or get an admin/mod. If you're offline that would be rather annoying but it can still be solved by remembering where you wanted to build and by being sure you were latched onto the ship as well as always carrying thusters/reactors or adding thrusters asap

Oh, you really arent getting this - Im talking about having to jump out of a combat situation and build on the fly.

the one think in build mode that should be fixed is the runnaway ship while going into advanced build mode. which makes it impossible to put thrusters on to be able to stop the ship while beeing landed in a black hole system.
This is a bit off topic, but still camera related, and it annoys me to no end. I believe the post is referring to how the build mode camera stop translating with the ship when advanced build mode is active. The reasons why your ship might be moving while you're trying to use advanced build mode are irrelevant. Holding down L. Ctrl shouldn't "drop" the camera in space. There's no point to it, and I would regard it as a bug, or at least an oversight.

    Back on topic:
Also the new camera positioning mechanic can be used to spy like BM but I think that can be partially fixed by limiting the range
The adjustable pilot camera would be subject to the same rules or limits as build mode.

What about a simple core / faction block related effect thats scrambles visuals for anybody using build mode thats not in your faction within the parameters of the entity?
I initially was thinking of something like this, with the view getting fuzzy as you neared any entity that you didn't have access privileges to. But if I am in build mode, and someone parks their ship next to me (whether accidental, or on purpose) I don't want my view to get scrambled. That's why I suggested just to stop rendering other entities, or just render their outlines.

Exactly, the vision only gets fuzzy within the outline area (the radius thing was a later thought on the fact theres already something in play with a similar level motive).

We don't have this huge astronaut gameplay in the game anyway, so there arent any gameplay relevant secrets if people know the floor layout.

You can allways hide your system blocks behind real blocks.

Additionally with scanning people are able to see the layout of your systems anyway.

I like the idea of having an additional layer of "immersion". But it's not so relevant to what Starmade is mostly about, that I would need some crazy drone fly restrictions on my build mode drone.

Just think about how nice it is in this game to actually see interiours of other players. I really like checking them out. Starmade is about building ->alot<- anyway. So having that godlike viewmode is very important in my opinion, even with improved astronaut gameplay you can't check out that awesome builds of others in a reasonable timescale as soon as they are a little bigger.

for that get creative; drones, a fleet, another player, or undockable distractions can help

same. I've seen some pretty nice interiors which I couldn't imagine myself, quite useful as inspiration. If it was an ugly pvp stick/cube/whatever I normally wouldn't bother looking at the inside, unless I had to spy for a faction. Of course you couldn't see how everything is connected such as teleporters so it won't matter much unless your pvp build has a vulnerable entrance and an obvious faction block which should be hidden in solid armor anyways, as should computers for weapons and tools as well as cargo

The great question for me is : "how this outline will be calculated ?" Just thinking about the coding give me a headache... COol, i'm not a coder
Well the way to calculate that is already in the game. It can outline and color in systems right now, so simply expanding that to outline the entire ship, and make the highlight color opaque instead of translucent should be fairly simple.

that's the same as the jump drive jump color animation effect on the ship's blocks

Not quite. The outline system used for highlighting weapons slaves and scanned ship internals is pretty-much a mesh that shrink wraps around the targeted blocks. It's not an applied texture, it's closer to an actual generated model. Interiors don't need to be included if the mesh is a convex hull, either.
