So with the Aux Power block I had an idea for a kinda modification to the power and shields blocks..The Idea actually came from a game called Homeworld. Ships had modules attached to the exterior of a ship "in this case wed use docked ships.." that you could disable to for example prevent a ship from moving.. disable its shields..weapon systems etc.. like the engine controls allowing you to use the thrusters from a docked ship being able to use the ones for power or even shields on a docked ship would be a great addition for a role play factor. the blocks would be they're own type so not to change the entire game for everyone they would have they're own category even.. possibly under the decoration category but in a sub-menu named functional moduals EX:General>Decoration>Role-Play Modules

The added modules would be "Extended Shields" and "Power Cores" the power core being one that if too much damage is taken can explode violently and can possibly take out a large section of a ship depending on how much of them is connected together, where as the shields if the "module" docked is destroyed all shields go offline.. to that note these shields would act just like the aux power holding a number of capacity and charging a portion.. the shields also would have a toggle ability allowing the player to drop they're shields at will with logic blocks. Im thinking as far as coloring goes the power blocks would look good with a red color scheme while the shields would have a totally new texture. or just have a blue tint with a glow to them.

I don't think that placing important parts of a ship on the outside to make it easier to shoot them off is realistic. In my mind this only makes sense in lowbrow movies.

well point partly is to make a more "homeworld" feel to give a role play aspect to the gameplay makes you have to be a bit more mobile to avoid hits but also shields would still work the same but would protect module docks more then the partial shields it does now

Capitol ships would be more vulnerable to bombers for example..
