I know we all want new content, but there are also some highly frustrating issues that everyone deals with on a daily basis. I have posted some of these top issues in a poll. These are issues that in my mind would not require game-overhauling changes to code, but more like simple tweaks to improve the quality of life for everyone playing.

I feel that by fixing some of these, instead of, or before, releasing more content to the game could improve the overall quality with minimal effort.

Another top alpha game that I've seen do something similar did an open poll to find the top 30 bugs and frustrations in the game that bothered the playerbase, and instead of a content patch the devs focused on those 30 things. This brought great faith and appreciation to the devs, because it was obvious that they were being involved with their playerbase, finding the top complaints and fixing them, before adding more to the game.

All of these are planned or recognized feature requests, but I was wondering just HOW planned these are, and what do the players really want the most?

Finding blue asteroids doesn't need to be fixed., if you read the wiki and know they spawn in the outer rim, Just move your map cursor around till you find a solar system with a outer ring asteroid belt, and then warp to one of those ring blocks. You'll find the blue asteroids there. I see no reason to fix this. It does make the game more challenging, and I like it. Also, you can set your HUD to list asteroids as targets as well, so, even if you can't see the asteroids, you'll at least be able to find them in your detectable entity list.

On larger servers with more players, and depending on the main galaxy spawn, this can be WAY harder some places than others. I'm pretty proficient at finding them, and still spent close to 6 hours with a superjumper going system to system in our main galaxy before I found a single ring that had a decent spawn and wasnt claimed by some other faction. Just a tiny tweak could make them more reliable, offering all players the same chance of finding them. New players shouldnt have to jump to the next galaxy to be able to set up a base of operations that can make shields.

I'd rather see the bugs with rail docked entities (when there is lot of entities) be fixed first... but thats just me :p

I agree, if I would have done this properly it would have been quite the grand poll, including bugs not currently being worked on and the biggest (simple) player requests

Please add movable/removable ship cores to the poll! Thanks.

I feel if I add or change poll options at this point it will skew the vote. Also, I imagine that the core is tied as a "parent" block, and may not be easily moved in-game, as it is likely tied to some pretty deep code at the moment. Code that is less useful now that the HP update is in place, but a lot of code nonetheless.

It's ridiculous that you left it out. It's been such a long-requested feature, and cores are a continual peeve of shipwrights. You just don't hear a lot about it because the problem has been around so long. The HP update has begun the transition away from cores. It needs to be finished.

I'm unable to vote on this.
Yet another option you left off the list: None Of The Above

Shipyard - fixing damaged ships, replacing destroyed block, converting armor / colored blocks, spawning without specific blocks
Ship core issues - unmovable, to many ship cores per ship
(my current ship consists of a bridge and a partially complete docking ring. It has no turrets, no thrusters or modules
and it's open to space. I'm up to 4 cores already.)
Rail bugs and tweaks - the system was just released and still needs fixed. I'm afraid to actually do any building.

    These are important to me.

None of the other stuff is important to me. Sure, they need to be addressed, but not right now. (admittedly, the blueroid thing sounds like a problem, but I don't play MP so)

I agree with both of you that these are things we want. I feel that rail fixes are a current "in progress" bugfix, so we dont need to tell the devs to work on something they're working on. As for cores moving, again I was looking for "Quick hit fixes" things that should only require a couple of lines of code, or an adjustment to an existing value. Things that dont require any overhaul of existing code or creation of a large amount of new code. Since I'm almost positive that the code for moving the core would be something more easily done out of game than in game, I left it off the list. It may be something to come with shipyards, but again this is a large update that we're speaking of, and I was looking for tweaks that have irritated players but should (in theory) be incredibly simple to fix.

As for None of the above option, I think that having the discussion in the below will still be visible to the devs/council, and we can discuss what other options we as players want them to look in to.
