It would make attacking other player planets a bit more interesting...

You could make them need to draw the power from there planits core, But the more hit the sheild block the more unstable the planit gets.

The planing could callapes into its self turning it into a black hole or just make it blow up and have fragments of it where the planet once was.

I think you have the start of a good idea but instead of drawing power from the planet core the power blocks should just be conected to the core and so once the planet receives too much damage then the power blocks and shield generators lose efectivness and the planet becomes unstable, causing it to fall apart or blow up.

You can place shield blocks onto a planet, a power system as well as turrets around it. Wouldn\'t this be a defense network? Seeing as the planets are not machines, why would it become unstable? If it becomes more instable and turns into a blackhole when attacked, how will you ever mine a planet and survive?

Who cares, home bases are immune from attack. No need for a defence grid. Although the fact big ships cant get near your planet is pretty good defence enough without 50000 pings :D

You can bypass gravity from approaching from below. You can also resist gravity easily by having a proper amount of thrust.
